When booking a hotel near Central Park with nightly rates ranging from $450 to $750 and above, certain standards are expected—particularly in comfort, design, and service. Unfortunately, this property fell short on several fronts.
The bed was noticeably old and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s rest. The room layout was not suited for business travel, with limited workspace and a poorly designed bathroom. The sink and surrounding counter space were minimal—barely adequate for one person, let alone two. Even the towels felt thin and worn, which only added to the sense of neglect.
Surprisingly, no bottled water was provided in the room, and I had to call to request one. At this price point, that level of detail should be automatic.
The executive lounge breakfast was underwhelming—standard continental fare that didn’t match the expectations of a premium hotel. Worse, the atmosphere was disrupted by staff vacuuming near guests without consideration, making it nearly impossible to hold a conversation.
In short, if this were a $150–$250 per night hotel, I might overlook some of these shortcomings. But at this price—and for a Hyatt property in such a prime location—I expected more. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
