We booked the Adelphi because it was central and had parking near by. The plastic plants in the planters outside were all over the place, the lobby felt dirty and grubby. We got our keys and went to our room. Due to building work going on,we had to walk through a restricted area that said ‘no entry’. There was dust, cables and debris everywhere. It did not feel safe. Up on entering,I knew I wasn’t going to stay there. There was a consistent buzzing noise and the room was so small, two people didn’t fit in.
So back to reception for take 2. Upon walking in to this room, we felt like we were in the sequel of the Shining. The hotel is horrible. The rooms are filthy. So filthy that I refused to take my socks off in bed. The kettle was rusty and mouldy. The bathroom was gross with lose taps, stuff that I don’t even bare to think about, up against the walls. Short, curly hair on the floor, filthy mirrors etc. We went for dinner and I asked to replace the kettle and have someone clean the room. They did nothing except change the kettle. With the lose cables everywhere, mould behind the curtains and paint peeling off we felt horrified. It’s like Stevie Wonder cleaned this room. I won’t even get in to breakfast. To sum this all up. I will ask for a refund as £212 for a room there is an absolute pi**take. Management should be ashamed of the quality of work they sign off on. This Hotel is not fit for purpose yet they still charge the same as an averagely good hotel. It’s not right.
