I booked a 2-person room via Hotels.com for a trip to meet some friends. But upon arrival the receptionist at the hotel told me that because I have a 2-person room, I must pay the City Tax for two persons, although I was traveling alone. I tried to convince him that I only booked a 2-person room because the 1-person rooms seemed incredibly small and the price difference was very small, but the intent was always to travel alone. But he insisted that I have to pay for two persons, even if I was by myself.(not consistent with the rule for City Tax, which is per person and not per room type).
He told me that I can send an email to the hotel management, which I did right away. But no response. I sent two more emails later, but no responses. I did get responses in the Hotels.com app to send the emails, but like I said, no one responded in over a week to my three emails to the address given. Not huge money but principle is wrong.
