We arrived early so our room was not ready (which was expected and not an issue). Upon arrival we were informed of an 'upgrade' since the guest occupying what was supposed to be our room wanted to stay and remain in that room. We did not get back to the hotel until late that night and did not know what our room was going to be. I know requests are not guanrateed, but I did request a room not on the ground floor so when we did arrive and got the room assignment, it was ground floor. It was only one night and late at that point so fine. The room itself was nice enough and clean. We paid for an ocean view and the room did have an ocean view, but being late at night, we didnt get to see. However, by 7am, we were woken up by construction happening literally right outside our door leading to the ocean. This is clearly why the other guest did not want this 'upgraded' room. The workers could also see right into the room and we were completely unable to enjoy the ocean view we paid for. The staff is extremely friendly, but because of this bait and switch, we will not be coming back. Trying to trick us by saying we got a free upgrade when it was obviously the less desirable room and allowing one guest to dictate the experience of another is really messed up. That guest should have been told they did not have a choice as they were supposed to vacate and the room was assigned to another guest, but instead they tried to dupe is into believing we got something better. Very disappointing.
