My traveling companion and I stayed at the Ajanta Hotel twice, on arrival in India, August 31-September 3, 2013 and again for one night on November 29, 2013, on our departure from India. On both occasions, and also when we were simply passing through New Delhi and had lunch at the Ajanta Hotel in early November, the front desk and hotel restaurant staff smothered us with kind, friendly, courteous, efficient service and hospitality. They anticipated all of our needs and responded immediately to all of our requests. When we stopped off there for lunch in early November, they made us an UNSOLICITED offer to use one of their guest rooms for a couple of hours for free until we caught our ongoing train. We declined so as not to put them out. That spontaneous offer to accomodate us gives the measure of the hotel staff's attentiveness to our every need. All hotel services work to perfection -- including the Wifi connection and bathroom facilities -- a rarity in India, as we discovered after traveling the whole length and breadth of the subcontinent. In India, one would normally have to spend 10 times the Ajanta's normal rates in order to hope to receive the same level of service and comfort and, above all, kind courtesy and efficiency elsewhere. I would recommend this hotel to anyone: although it is a 3-star category budget hotel, it performs as if it belonged to the hyper-expensive and hyper-luxurious Taj or Oberoi Group of hotels. My compliments to the staff of the Ajanta Hotel!
