Check spa availability before booking hotel room
This place looks great on photos and does have some lovely aspects to it. Let’s start with the positive. The reception staff were friendly and Andy the Porter was amazing. Our room was clean and comfortable.
On a negative
Our room wasn’t ready until half an hour after our check in time of 3pm.
We asked for a fan to be put in our room but not one present.
No iron in the room
The restaurants on site super busy and no room for a booking.
I booked this hotel so that I could treat my wife to a spa experience however after booking a non refundable room I phoned up the spa and they had no room for spa treatments for any of the 3 days we were in the Lake District.
We stayed in room number 1, a disable friendly room. (Not that we needed it)
Firstly we couldn’t open the curtains in the room as it was on ground level and people were sitting outside drinking near the window thus allowing no privacy.
Then there was the noise. Noise from the crowd outside and worse still, above the room there was some terrible noise from what I can only describe as some sort of hotel staff working. It sounded like furniture moving and really noisy water pipes. This noise didn’t stop until 11pm and started again at 04.45.
We booked through hotels.com and had to pay for onsite parking. Something I was not aware of. The reception told me that if I booked directly then parking would have been included.
Even as a resident your only allowed to use the pool between certain times.
