The San Diego Natural History Museum showcases Southern California’s natural history from prehistoric times to the present day. You will find interesting and hands-on exhibits including dinosaur fossils as well as a large theatre with an impressive array of educational 2D and 3D films.
For those who love the outdoors, there are regularly scheduled guided hikes for adults and families. You will also find a variety of talks including "The Wonderful Journey of the Cannabis Plant" and an ongoing series on climate change. Highlights of the San Diego Natural History Museum
While at the San Diego Natural History Museum, you will find a diverse selection of permanent exhibits as well as rotating displays. In the "Hidden Gems" exhibit, you will find over 100 minerals and gemstones on display. You can examine art, hard-to-find historical books and documents, and models of animals and plants in the "Extraordinary Ideas from Ordinary People: A History of Citizen Science" collection.
As you explore the museum, you will also see "Fossil Mysteries," "Skulls," and much more. Previous rotating exhibits have included everything from photography displays of the "50 Greatest Landscapes" and "50 Greatest Wildlife Photographs" to "Animals: Machines in Motion."
