Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park is a historic park covering about 35 acres that features well-maintained greenspace and remnants of MLK's life. Several historic buildings are included in the park as well.

Anyone can enjoy their trip to this park, whether they're interested in history or not. While you'll find plenty of information available here, the parkland is entertaining enough in its own right thanks to numerous walking trails and vibrant greenery. Most people spend about an hour or 2 here, but your visit will definitely lean more towards the latter if you take the time to visit the historical monuments.

Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park highlights

While there's plenty to see at Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park, a few parts tend to stand out. In the park, you'll find the King Birth Home, which is an old house that the activist grew up in that offers tours.

This park is also home to The King Centre, where you can learn all about the work he did and the continuing fight to achieve civil rights for all people. The multimedia exhibit is fascinating, but you'll also find the Children of Courage exhibit that's specifically designed to educate kids.

Good to know when visiting Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park

When visiting Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park, there are some things to keep in mind. MLK's Birth Home is open for tours, but the entire house isn't available to explore. If you see a closed door, don't open it. Additionally, remember not to take any pictures in the house.

Visiting this park will put you close to other attractions in town that you might want to check out. A short distance to the northeast, for example, will lead you to the Historic Fourth Ward Park, which has children's play areas and a skatepark.
