"Exceptional location, very quiet surroundings. Clearly did not have enough staff in the evening. For a long time in the evening there was one person doing the bar with several customers and having to waiter on about 10 tables"

"The food (home made curry) and all the staff were great.
The hotel needs some maintenance and a little more of a clean in some areas (cob webs in corners). "

"A very pleasant stay. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Only negative was shower performance was poor. We found the duvet a bit heavy for summer but that's our personal preference. Evening meal was very nice and reasonably priced."

"We had a fantastic stay at The Cally Palace Hotel. I visited with my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson — the boys enjoyed a round of golf while we girls headed to the Arts and Crafts Festival in Kirkcudbright. The hotel is full of charm, with beautiful surroundings, comfortable rooms, and very friendly staff. The food was excellent, and the whole atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back!"
"Beautiful period property with bags of character. Lovely lounge area with comfortable seating to relax and chat, have a drink before or after dining. Very comfortable bed, excellent food and so therefore excellent value for money for your stay."
"I really enjoyed my visit to The Hill Hotel. I had problems on the journey and arrived late and Jerry made me feel welcome from arriving to leaving. I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel.
Thanks for all the help from Christine."
"Would I go back ???
Yes, this place was clean and the rooms well presented. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Although this guest house is on a busy road, it was so quiet.
Highly recommended. "

"Loved our huge Van Gogh decorated bedroom and great en-suite. Lovely and light with huge window.
Breakfast, great range of choices. You couldn't leave hungry.
Downside was that we were unable to use the TV because of the Sky set-up. Only catered for two users at any one time. However, we weren't there to watch TV.
Hosts, Mandy and Dan were very accommodating and welcoming, as were their three dogs.
Would definitely recommend."

"A old hotel which is mostly shut down , has some rooms which are clean and comfortable, but you come in off side street and side door. I wouldn't want to stay here as a women."
