An odd place to stay, with some real charm
The Fuji Mountain Resort hotel is an odd place to stay but it's not necessary a bad thing.
It's listed as a traditional Japanese hotel and it's not yet really ready for western visitors but that's part of the charm, the staff couldn't speak English (nor should they have too I guess, I don't speak Japanese) but Google translate soon sorted us out at check in, we were given vouchers for a complimentary breakfast, this was unexpected. We couldn't decide if this was meant as an apology for the slow check in or just included in our booking.
The other guest were all wearing kimonos and slippers, we thought maybe they were just locals but we soon found kimonos in our room, so I dress up as it seemed the thing to do.
The room was clean and comfortable, the tv didn't work but that wasn't an issue to us. The bathroom was a full wet room with a separate toilet in a different room. The toilet was Japanese, meaning it had a heated seat, privacy settings (It play a loud noise) and a bidet.
The car park was difficult to find and poorly lit, there may have been signage but we didn't see any.
Dinner was available, at a cost of 2000 yen, I'd give this a miss as it was buffet style but everything seem cold or luke warm.
The only other issue was the corridors, they were not designed for giants like me (5 foot 11 inchs) so be ready to duck as you walk through.
