Lovely stay at The Ansonborough. Definitely sign up for the optional upgrade if it’s offered to you. I’ve stayed in many hotels across the United States, Canada and Europe. The Ansonborough has to be in the top 3 places I’ve ever stayed.
We stayed in the Admiral’s Suite which was spacious and well appointed. I loved that the bathroom featured large bath sheets large enough to dry and cover a larger sized adult. So often hotels have tiny and useless towels.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean.
We had a spacious kitchen with a breakfast bar and dining area. There was a Keurig and a small refrigerator. I was a little surprised that there wasn’t a microwave with all the kitchen space.
We had a comfortable sitting area which included a gas fireplace.
Breakfast was different each morning and includes yogurt, fresh melon, oatmeal, English muffins & bagels.
Coffee was available 24/7.
The front desk staff was very welcoming and provided directions & restaurant recommendations.
The hotel is directly across from a Harris Teeter in case you forget something or want some snacks.
Parking is $35 per day which seems to be pretty standard in Charleston. The location is close to the aquarium, Ft.Sumter Museum, City Market, the horse drawn carriages and other attractions. We have some limitations walking and found these destinations to be very walkable from the hotel. There were many benches and places to rest if needed.
We look forward to returning soon.
