The reception staff were nice and very helpful. I booked in order to attend Christmas services at the Temple Church so my unexpected view of the church from my window (room 221) was a real plus.
The price was reasonable and I realise of course that this is not a luxury place; I understand, too, that they only service the room on alternate days. That's fine - but only once in my five-night stay? I expected better.
The room had everything needed - comfortable bed, excellent bathroom ... but I felt the lay-out could have been better thought through, even though the room is small. Main problem? I read a lot and the lighting just wasn't good for that. Also - no bedside power or USB point.
All that said, it's a very good place to base yourself, with lots of public transport options nearby - and plenty of interesting places to visit (not least the famous and beautiful Temple Church). My room (at the back of the hotel) was very quiet indeed - though I was woken on Christmas morning by the merry shouts of the choristers arriving for their pre-service practice!
The breakfast (extra cost) is OK but not wildly exciting. Slightly cheaper if you book it on arrival at Reception rather than paying in the (small) restaurant/eating area.
In short, it's not perfect, but I would (I shall!) stay here again.
