Gorgeous night away
An absolutely beautiful hotel. We had a gorgeous room with an enormous bathtub and a very comfortable bed. A couple of little things that I would have liked the European style bathroom that has a toilet in the middle of the room is not ideal, at least it wasn’t our first date! There are just certain things that you like to do in private. They have some very cool LED lighting in the ceiling however you have to have the main chandelier on in order to utilize it which seems to defeat the purpose. Upon arrival we were given the choice of an essential oil to use in the diffuser, there was a beautiful bottle of steel and sparkling water in the fridge, along with some fresh fruit, delicious fudge, and a lovely shortbread cookie. The restaurant was wonderful and the food portions were quite generous. We will absolutely stay again however we might look at whether there is a room with an enclosed water closet.

No Privacy, no room darkening
Complete let down. Terrible place. First room looked nice in picture but washroom is an open concept..meaning no door, no wall, no partition, you litterally have no privacy at all. Toilet right out in full view. Complained and was moved to another room but this one had curtains with no blinds that allowed so much light that you could not darken the room. Also had a broken transition on the floor that had a sharp edge. Finally requested a refund and was told the request had to be put through Hotels.com so called them to request. When they called the hotel, they were told the Manager was not in yet. We then left after only being on the property less than an hour. I have since been told by hotels.com that despite several attempts to get the manager to refund the money and trying to make them aware that they want their partners to be fair with travellers, the resort still refused. So, at the end of the day out $326 for nothing. I guess that kind of explains why there was virtually no-one else in the hotel.

A gem
This is a wonderful boutique hotel nestled in the hills with scenic views and peacefulness. This was my second stay there and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is classy and the food is exquisite along with the service. I love it here.

Very loud fan was stuck blowing cold air into the room and could not be turned off. Heating was not working. Wasted 3 hours upon check-in waiting for the staff to sort it out! Ended up giving up and left the hotel preferring not to waste any more time. A so called "luxury resort" offering to bring in a manual heater into the room!

Beautiful property. Our king executive did not have a view but rather overlooked an area where they were storing junk so disappointed. They began constructing a fence outside our room with a bright light shining thru window and drills. Had to call the front desk. For a luxury resort, the toiletries in the room were poor (tiny 2 in 1 shampoo!). Staff were kind. Breakfast included was excellent/fresh ingredients.

The hotel appears quite isolated but is very accessible to local amenities. The sunset views across the rolling fields were stunning. The hotel is modern and small, so was not noisy. The staff are friendly and helpul, the sommelier was great, very friendly and welcoming. We only had breakfast which was plentiful with hot and cold choices and freshly cooked when they ran short. Fresh fruit was just that, fresh. The room we had was spacious and comfortable, very clean and the bed was firm but we had a good couple of nights sleep. Personally our stay was not the best because of circumstances but had things been better for us, we would have enjoyed this location more than we were able to but if we ever came back to this part of Canada, we would come back here. The tranquility was just right.

No shampoo in room, could not get tv working, no map of property let alone trails, spent ages killing five blow flies in our room, shower has nothing to grab onto in case of slipping, bed frame is too easy to trap toes in, could not get bedside lamp working, wasp nest visible right outside window. Only one elevator, and no stairs, down to restaurants. Be careful of staying on the same night as a party event (they had two on when we went). They seem focused on serving event guests, not additional hotel-only guests like us. Food is good! But the tap water that comes with it should be filtered better. Apart from that, enjoyed our hotel stay and I would probably recommend the venue for BIG EVENTS (just never for getaways).

The hotel is clean, staff are friendly. It’s been built on a budget at that is clear. There was a torch in the elevator as there were no lights, in the rooms the finishing is cheap, breakfast is ‘continental’ but there’s little continental about it. Beds are very comfortable , rooms are very clean. As I got the stay at discount it was worth it, but it’s not in the premium leagues

Where do I start? From the moment we pulled up the long, rustic road lined with stunning fall trees, the Hallmark-worthy charm of Mt. Alverno swept us away. We were greeted by an amazing staff, setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable stay. Nigel, the head of operations, went above and beyond to get to know us and ensure every detail of our 9th-anniversary celebration was perfect. The view from our room? One in a million. Scott, crafted fantastic drinks for us to enjoy outside and even made sure we had a beautiful fire going while light music played in the wooded distance. The room was cozy and clean, blending modern comfort with the old-world charm that has been meticulously preserved throughout the property. To keep this from sounding like a paid review, my one minor gripe was a 30-minute wait for breakfast to be replenished – I’m still not sure why it took so long for eggs! But honestly, even with that, this experience deserves a full 5 out of 5. The cherry on top? The owner himself took time on a busy night to sit by the fire and chat with us, sharing the inspiring story and vision behind Mt. Alverno. It's rare to find a place with beautiful views, great food, and incredible rooms, but what truly sets this place apart is the personal, heartfelt service, it brought me back to pre-COVID days of genuine hospitality. I can't wait to return and see how this property grows. The entire team should be incredibly proud of the exceptional experience they provide.

The Staff are lovely
I had the best suite but the heating was broken so I was moved to another suite. The staff and service was excellent and they can’t do enough for you. The only flaw was the new suite had been vacant for ages and was covered with dead or dying flies which I had to clean up but that wasn’t a biggy. I will certainly come back as the service was excellent and I really liked the staff.
