Older hotel friendly employees for the most part … this is a 3 star hotel AC blew hot air and don’t count on the WiFi working at least on the top floors but only in the lobby for the most part … views are wonderful and town beaches are nice with Funchal very close for other dining sightseeing options . Elevators are a bit rough two for over 200 rooms so plan to wait at breakfast check out and in the evening … hotel is like something out of a 1970s movie but the pool is nice proximity to the beach and the fantastic hiking on the Pennisula ….

The staff is fantastic. The property is well kept, but is an older 10 years but in good repair. I think the property is better than many of the reviews that expected a new property. We like the quiet cute town of Machico. We worked with the hotel staff to extend our stay 4 more days!! Many nice restaurants in walking distance, It about 20 euros to get Uber to Funchal for tourist shopping.

The air conditioning in my room did not work and the sheets on the bed were uncomfortable so it was very difficult to sleep at night. Otherwise the hotel is nice for the price. Clean. Nice staff. Nice pool and good breakfast.

Very good hotel

In a perfect position the Dom Pedro lived up to our expectations. Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. The bus stop is nearby for reaching other parts of the island as well as the airport. Our room had fantastic views of the bay. The only downside was no kettle in our room but we knew about this and brought our own travel kettle. There was also no hairdryer which is unusual for a 4 star hotel but this did not spoil our enjoyment. Evening entertained was a nice touch.

Dom Pedro 4 night stay

The hotel is definitely old and could do with an update/makeover. It stated on theor specificatione that they do have air-conditioning, but since we stayed during the off-season, the system was still set to heating mode and couldn’t be changed until the season officially ended. We requested to switch rooms as we preferred to leave the doors open for a cool breeze, and although we were initially placed on a lower floor, the staff were very accommodating and quickly arranged a more suitable room for us. If you are considering booking half-board for the hotel buffet, I would not recommend it. The food was quite bland, with limited options — typically three meat dishes (including fish), one vegetable dish, and either rice or pasta. However, the desserts and fruit selection were enjoyable. Breakfast was standard but not particularly impressive. Despite having half-board included, I often found myself going out for dinner as I was still hungry afterward. The hotel’s location is fantastic, being very close to the beach, and waking up to the stunning views every morning was definitely a highlight. Overall, the staff were lovely and very helpful throughout our stay.

Stayed one night to catch an early morning flight as it was close to airport. The breakfast was included in the hotel stay, we asked if they could provide sandwiches for us the night before as we will miss the breakfast. All we got was a straight "NO". He never thought of trying to ask the kitchen staffs, didn't look friendly at all. unfortunately, not my kind of service.

Great location, but hotel needs an upgrade

The location was very good, especially for going on different excursions around Madeira. Breakfast was a highlight – nice selection and tasty options that we really enjoyed. Parking was a bit cramped, and the overall standard of the hotel felt somewhat outdated and in need of an upgrade. That said, the facilities and room still felt clean and fairly well maintained, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, our stay was affected by a water leakage in the room (from the bathtub-shower), which caused inconvenience. While the staff noted our complaint, we did not feel the situation was followed up in a satisfactory way, and the lack of compensation was disappointing. Overall, the hotel has potential due to its location and breakfast, but improvements in both service and facilities are needed.
