I always stay at LaQuinta when on long road trips with our cat. Most are very good. The hotel in Lake City, Fla., was outstanding, due to the well-constructed building and the exuberance of the staff.
Even though our room was right behind the elevators, it was completely quiet, and any sounds from the hall were not heard in our room. The breakfast room was downright pretty, with pastel wing chairs positioned in floor-to-ceiling windows. We were there 10 days before Christmas, and the lobby was filled with good-looking decorations which elevated the spirits.
Our check-in clerk went out of his way to guide us to his favorite seafood restaurant in the area, and he added lots of details with thoughtfulness. The breakfast the next morning offered many options and variations on the usual menu. It far exceeded the breakfast buffet offered at our stop the previous day in North Carolina.
The effort of the management and staff made a wonderful difference!
