Nice Budget Boutique Property
So we ran into a few hiccups when booking online. Hotels.com has a button to pay at the property; however, The Present has a pay-first, stay-later policy. This led to several questionable emails to the folks at The Present. So that had me change my reservation and rebook altogether—not an ideal situation since I didn't get to book the original room I wanted. The last few problems were that we had to lug our luggage down to a storage room and wait until cleaners could have our other room ready for the second night of our stay. Now, I will say The Present did try to accommodate my room request a few days after I rebooked; however, I just didn't want to deal with their site again and chance more email exchanges. The first night, our room was just okay. The TV did not work at all; this was room 403. And we heard a strange grinding noise above us all night long. The second night, our room (401) was spectacular! No noise; the only bad part was, once again, our TV was on the fritz. Nothing like not being able to watch the Super Bowl. Geez!
Overall, this is a very nice property, and I would stay here over a chain any day of the week! However, now it would have to be only in room 401.
