This ryokan stay was a wonderful part of our Japan trip. It felt quite authentic from the moment we arrived. I was worried that the added dinner and breakfast wouldn't be enough food for our American appetites, but I was totally wrong! The dishes kept coming at dinner and we left very full. The onsen was a very unique experience and I was grateful to have an option to enjoy it privately. I was also grateful that we were allowed to leave our luggage after checkout while we explored for the day. In general, we found Hakone a little more difficult to navigate than larger cities because everything is so spread out. The bus routes are numbered - get a map from the tourist office before you leave Odawara Station! Google Maps did not identify stops by the number and without knowing Japanese we would have been lost if it had not been for this map - see photo! The inn is not far from stop 248 along the blue T Togendai line from Odawara Station. It took about 45 minutes on that bus plus 5 minutes walking to arrive there.

They offer a private onsen room for a family and this is a great option for those who are not comfortable with public onsen experience. Despite the lack of English speaking staff members, they were super attentive and did their best to communicate with us.

This experience was unlike anything I’ve had before. The hot spring was excellent, and comfortable. We did not get to choose the time we were allotted for the hot spring, so that did change our plans, but that was not a huge deal. The room was also quite comfortable, but you will be sleeping on the floor which takes some getting used to! The food was amazing, we had both courses and they were so delicious and filling. I would highly recommend this, and it is worth it!

The property was in a very nice location nested into the lovely mountains. The staff arranging our fantastic meals were so gracious and attentive. The room was cozy, clean, and well taken care of. This was the most unique experience I have ever had [younger women]. The Onsen was great and clean. Older women has been to 2 or three others in past years and this rates very high in comparison. Thank you from your northern Canadian ladies

It was a great ryokan stay. We loved the kaiseki dinner, it felt like we already had a lot in front of us and then they brought more and more. We liked being able to use a natural hotspring and just a reserved time for our room. We enjoyed our kotatsu table and just the general atmosphere of the place. We enjoyed using the yukata and had a really relaxing experience overall.
