As expected from its moniker, lava lamps abound here as well as bamboo sofas, an atmospherically lit bar and 60 square metres of open-sided fun. In a quiet soi leading to the beach and Lamai Wanta Resort, Lava Lounge is a one-off for those who seek good company and a good drink.
Irish-Thai owners Frank and Ice have managed to pull off the relatively simple yet winning combination of a warm welcome, cocktails with a kick, and a place you never tire of.
The atmosphere in Lava Lounge is more like a British pub than the typical island hangout featuring pumping music and bar hostesses. A good conversation, a laugh or 2, and a few drinks are the order of the day (or night). There’s occasional live music, too. This is, by an impressive margin, one of the best bars in Lamai.
