There are plenty of excellent restaurants in Sukhumvit. In fact, some people see the area as a foodie heaven, as it includes Japanese, Indian and Korean enclaves, as well as the popular Thong Lor and Ekkamai roads, which have seen an explosion of international dining options over the years. There’s a complete range of food here, from excellent street eats to fine dining in chic restaurants.
In Bangkok, Sukhumvit Road runs from a few blocks west of Nana BTS Skytrain Station. There are plenty of places to eat in the vicinity of the stations, especially at Nana and Asoke and further along at Thong Lor and Ekkamai, but we also recommend exploring a little further down the roads that lead off this main thoroughfare.

Enoteca
- Cibo
Enoteca Italiana is one of the most successful Italian restaurants in Bangkok. Despite being hidden at the end of a very narrow street, it’s almost always full every day and it would be nearly impossible to just show up and ask for a table.
An eclectic collection of vintage advertising signs decorate the walls, garlic and onion garlands hang from the ceiling, while the brick counter is covered with Italian cheeses, smoked hams and salamis. And of course, no Italian restaurant would be complete without an entire wall dedicated to good wines. Making a choice among so many appetising names is a real challenge with so many attractive dishes, such as truffle pigeon liver pate, tenderloin of venison with artichoke and roasted snow fish with Nduja chilli pork sausage and piquillo pepper.

Cocotte Farm Roast & Winery
- Cibo
Cocotte Bangkok Farm Roast and Winery is a restaurant that combines a passion for local, seasonal, organic produce with the lively buzz of a French bistro. The barbecued steaks, rotisserie chickens and fresh salads taste delicious and are sourced from sustainable farms within Thailand (well, everything except the steak).
It is as close to farm-to-table dining in Bangkok as you’re likely to get and it’s proving incredibly popular. Cocotte Bangkok is packed most nights of the week. The vibe is fun and energetic. Waitresses come and go, while the row of chefs is busy in the open kitchen. There’s also an open deli with artisanal cheese and cured meats laid out for you to make up your own platter.

Continua a leggereCabbages and Condoms in Bangkok is a restaurant with a difference. Using a quirky name to highlight a serious issue, it is a great place to enjoy some tasty Thai food knowing that part of the profit is going to a good cause. The choice is impressive – it goes way beyond the usual pad thai and tom yum (but never fear, these are also available).
Recommendations include the spicy-sour deep-fried catfish salad served with a mango dressing, a whole chicken marinated in wild honey and yellow crab curry with bell peppers. To accompany these, order the combo of white and red jasmine rice, which comes in the shape of a heart.

Supanniga
- Cibo
Inspired by his grandmother’s recipes, owner Eh opened Supanniga Eating Room. It serves an appetizing range of traditional Thai dishes from both her hometown in Trat (by the east coast) and Khon Kaen (northeast) where the family is now based. With comfortable but chic decor, an outside terrace and some strong martinis, this restaurant on Thong Lor is worth a trip along the road to Soi 8.
The tables are laid with pretty blue-and-white china, the accent colour is sunshine yellow and despite the modern touches, it feels like popping round to a friend’s place for a bite to eat. Supanniga Eating Room is a fantastic local restaurant which addresses the needs of discerning diners who are looking to experience time-honoured regional cooking.

The Local
- Cibo
The Local Bangkok is a traditional fine-dining Thai restaurant in the heart of Bangkok. The restaurant serves delicious home-cooked Thai food in a traditional wooden house in the Asoke area of Sukhumvit.
Inspired by traditional Thai cooking and cuisine from the past, The Local Bangkok presents beautifully presented dishes from its extensive menu, with over 70 modern Thai options on offer. Start with the tasty mixed plate called Ruam Kam Aroy, which includes khao soy soup, lemongrass shrimp and fried chicken wrapped in a pandanus leaf to seal in all the juices. Be sure to sample one of the stars of the menu, the Gaeng Run Juan, a traditional Thai curry that includes thin strips of beef steak cooked in a shrimp and lime paste. The Pla Ta Pien Tom Kem is slow-cooked fish, simmered for over 20 hours and mixed with The Local's secret recipe sauce, and is another popular dish from the menu.
