Bingin Beach is one of Bali’s most popular surf spots. It’s also one of the island’s hidden beaches, obscured by the rugged limestone cliffs on the southwestern Bukit peninsula. While getting to the stretch of white sand requires a difficult walk over uneven rocks, most people agree that it's well worth the effort as they get to experience the gorgeous beachscapes and exciting waves.

Bingin offers a treat for photographers or those simply looking for a place to relax and take in the exotic sunsets. Overland, Bingin Beach offers a somewhat stark and barren topography, but you’ll have the best panoramic view from the clifftop. The best time for non-surfers and beach lovers to visit Bingin is during low tide when much of the stretch of sand is revealed. There are several local bars and warungs (traditional food shacks) where you can sit back and enjoy splendid views over the coast.

Bingin Beach highlights

For wave riding, Bingin Beach is easily a paradise for pro surfers, with left-handers that can be strong with up to 2.5-metre swells that break over the submerged reef. Near the shore, it’s shallow but can be too rocky to wander barefoot. However, the coarse white sand of the coastline is one of the most beautiful on the peninsula’s coastline.

There are affordable stays around Bingin Beach if you’re looking to paddle out in the early mornings, right after a good night’s sleep. Meanwhile, you can opt for accommodation that is more on the luxurious side at resorts near the Uluwatu area.
