Mixed bag
Some positive aspects (location, room size, concierge), but also some important negative ones (no cleaning, poor breakfast, no elevator) make it not a terrible hotel, but not one I'd be looking forward to go back to. The rooms are very large and the beds comfortable. Also the bathrooms are nice and they provide a hair dryer, soap and shampoo. But there is only one chair in the room and no fridge and only one set of towels and not one glass in the bathroom for your toothbrush. We stayed two nights and no one cleaned the room after the first night (so no fresh towels or toilet paper, either). The person at the reception desk apologized, but offered no discount or other compensation (like a future discount for the next stay). During the week-end the area around the hotel becomes very lively (a plus), but also rather loud (a minus, as all rooms are located on the first floor - the one above the ground floor, with no elevator and not very well sound proofed from exterior music and sounds). Breakfast is "free" (let's face it: it is not free: it is included in the room fare) and rather disappointing. You can choose to have a toast with white or whole grain bread, or no toast, a fried egg or no fried egg, coffee and orange juice. End of breakfast. No buffet, nothing sweet, no fruit. If you leave early for a canal tour you can't even get a coffee and there is no packed breakfast option.
