Not a true 5***** experience
The Academy is conveniently located and its staff goes great s to try to make up for the fact that the hotel is underwhelming under so many respects. It defies reasonability that it boasts five stars. To begin with, there is no elevator. If you have an upper floor room, it is all stairs. The main door is locked and you need the key to enter. When we first arrived, the receptionist was not there to open, perhaps taking a desert break. Mind, she was the ONLY staff on duty at about 7:00 pm. Then we were escorted to our fifth floor room, that was tiny, cramped, worn out, and definitely not remotely satisfactory in a 5 stars. The window were almost impossible to darken, they were old and in bad shape (paint was peeling off the frames). The TV was small and unconveniently located with respect to the bed. The bathroom was small and sink almost laughably, boat-sized, small. Very small wardrobe, almost no space to store the suitcases. The mattress was too soft and sloped to one side. And so on... (they don't have biscuits at all for the 5pm tea!; only crisps!). For the second night they moved us to a ground floor, which was better in terms of size and confort, but still not up to par to what I expect from a 5star property.
