Giza is a “special” area, where people know to be aware of pickpockets and scammers, but what I couldn’t expect is to meet this scammers managing and working IN the hotel.
First of all, the building, rooms, cleaning, bathroom, breakfast service (which was included) was FAR AWAY, from 4-star.
What I am going to describe now is serious: when I arrived in the hotel, the manager welcomed me and my partner, and he told us to be aware of scammers on the street, and recommended to ask for their hotel’s workers, for anything we’d need.
Then, I asked where I could buy a SIM card with 25 GB: the manager asked one of his guys to accompany us to the phone shop, where we asked the cost of it.
The shop assistant told “a SIM CARD 25GB costs 820 LE”; I asked the hotel’s guy if the price was fair, and he confirmed.
We paid.
We discovered 6 days later that we were given a 4 GB.
We bought from an official “orange” (that is the name of the provider) phone store 8GB for 120 LE.
It happened again and again for smaller amounts of money.Me and my partner felt so unwelcome, and the hotel’s cleaning conditions so poor, and we began feeling this hotel’s workers untrustworthy, that we decided to move to Luxor one day earlier
