Great location (Blue line CTA can take you to Downtown and O’Hare Airport). Staff is very helpful and accommodating. They were always available when needed. Room and bathroom were clean.

Location was super convenient, and the management was always responsive despite being offsite. I received a text around 2PM with my check in code and directions for how to find my assigned room, and the code became active at exactly 3PM. This place is simple, no-frills, but it is safe, clean, the bed was comfortable, and honestly I was stunned that despite being in a busy area, it was quiet enough that I didn't need my earplugs! I would absolutely stay here again.

We arrived a bit too early for check-in, but the staff kindly let us leave our bags there. We were also running late afterward, and they really took the time to help us find a quick solution. The staff was honestly amazing, even though they were super busy, they did everything they could to help us out. They understood exactly what we needed and were so kind and attentive. Special thanks to Krys,super friendly and helpful!

I paid for parking and my spot was taken when I got back so I was left with NO PARKING. You can only communicate with the team via text and it took them hours to even try to resolve it and since I was already very unimpressed with the room/weird creepy hole in the ceiling/bed/filthy bathroom with a tub that wasn't draining I just left. Do yourself a favor and just pay a bit more for a hotel with staff who can assist you if things go wrong. This is is not it!!

Paid for reserved parking but all spots were taken, wasn't able to sleep in the bed I paid for. Ended up driving back to Milwaukee. Seemed like a nice place though when I first got there and was a spot open

I was really shocked that Grand house threatened to cancel my stay at the last minute, if I was not paying an overcharge of 200$ (for no valid reason) while I already paid for my whole trip to Expedia. Thankfully Expedia customer services were the best and took care of the situation. Thank you Expedia I know why I am using your services.

I chose a private, double room although i was travelling alone. It was really spacious with a separate cupboard for my case and clothes.The room was very clean and the bed was absolutely devine. So, so comfy. I shared a bathroom with other guests but had no issues at all. The bathroom was top notch , even the shampoo and body wash were a thick, luxurious style. 10 out of 10. There was tea and coffee available 24/7. Chris and her boyfriend Chris were very excellent hosts and nothing was too much for them from clean towels, directions and suggestions on fun things to do. ♥️

I didn't receive anything that comes with a hotel room and no room service the floors were dusty and dirty and dirt was under the bed stains on the chair and pillow cases i didn't have any wash cloths and i was given a small space heater and a thin blanket the room overall was uncomfortable and i was itchy from sleeping in that bed and i was still cold i couldn't take a shower because the water never got hot enough just barely warm to the touch and construction workers were working late and kept me up and I had to pay a early entry fee that I didn't know i had to pay and i would never stay in that place again one of my worst stays in a hotel ever

A good location in the city and relatively inexpensive, but... Though the room was clean it was listed as a Premier Studio Suite that sleeps 3, in fact there is only 1 small bed with no sleeping provisions for a 3rd person and I would not call it premier, nor studio. There is no en suite bathroom, only enough towels were provided for 1 person, despite it being advertised as a room for 3 people - as there is only 1 small bed, the third person ends up on the floor. Bed sheets/blanket were barely sufficient for 2, certainly not for 3. The property also has very narrow staircases to carry your bags up (no elevator), the front door auto-locks with a deadbolt very quickly, so if you don't close the door quickly enough, the deadbolt is activated and the door does not close or lock properly and the room door sticks and also does not close properly, meaning you have to slam it shut, else the door remains unlocked and open.

I paid for early check in, the payment site said my payment went through but I never got the confirmation email that the owners were aware of my early check in. So I showed up early, my code didn't work and someone had to let me in. The door to my room was open so I started to settle in and closed the door. About thirty minutes later someone knocks on the door and it's a staff member who was there to clean the floors. He wasn't made aware of my early check in- not his fault but I was trying to take a nap so it could have been much more awkward. So I stayed in the living room area for about ten minutes while he cleaned. The shower was grimy and had no hot water and there are big holes in the ceiling where the pipes are. Once 3 pm rolled around I had no issues with my code. Overall I just needed a place to rest for the night while I was in town so it was fine for that but I won't be re-booking if I return to Chicago.

Within walking distance of Chicago's most beloved institutions (Richard's Bar and The Salt Shed), this well equipped hostel put us in the heart of the action. Affordable parking and helpful staff secure Grand House's place near the top of on my return trip itinerary.
