We stayed in one of the cottages not the actual hotel, however the hotel looks very comfortable and may be where we stay on a future trip to the area.
The staff were extremly helpful and very welcoming.
The cottage was very comfortable and was well appointed for the pool, bar and restaurant. The only problem we encountered was that the shower was over the bath but not at a height where you coulld stand underneath it. A walk-in shower would have been preferable.
The grounds are beautiful and pool is excellent. This hotel offers a very relaxing holiday with a tennis court and the opportunity for tennis lessons. Bike hire is also available.
The food, wine and service in the restaurant is very good. A table on the balcony gives great views across the lake to the mountains, particularly with the evening sunset.
The town of Desenzano del Garda is easily accessible by car, taxi and bus, with good restaurants, bars and shops in the centre. Do not expect typical high street shops, these are far more original and interesting.
The town has some interesting architecture. Side streets are worth exploring and the little piazzas have bars to sit in and watch the world go by.
From the port, ferries leave for the many villages and towns on the shores of Lake Garda. A trip to one of the villages by the lake is a must, especially on a hot day when the cooling breeze on the upper deck of the ferry is wonderful.
From the station, trains run to Verona and Milan with various stops in between.
This is a lovely hotel in a superb location - one we will remember and visit again.
