Had a nice view, the room was old but clean… it was October this time of year they can not have the air on … so the room was too warm and had to have the front desk bring a fan to make it comfortable to sleep at night. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall it was ok just dated and the grounds and planters need to be cleaned up.

Great place to stay. Room with a view!

We had a lovely week staying at this beautiful hotel. Had a room with sea view and balcony which made it even more special. The room was comfortable clean and staff friendly. It would have been even better if it had a fridge and if the complimentary coffee etc was not just a welcome gesture. Thoroughly enjoy our stay. Would love to return.

Far below expectations

In spite of being a VIP member in Hotel.com we got one of the worst room in the hotel (many available rooms according to several booking sites). This is what you have booked according to a nasty front desk employee. The room situated on the first floor towards the street was very noisy. The garbage emptying on the street snd other activities were felt as taking place in your room! We had booked half board. The food for dinner was OK but not more. Serving was s disaster, slamming plates on the glasses, putting the plates on the knife and taking away the plate almost before you have finished. Breakfast was like serving childrens meal. Missing food on the serving plates. Out neighbours plates were taken away when the went to refill their coffee, etc. If you choose to stay at this hotel go to the charming old town, a few hundreds meter away, to have your breakfast, lunch or dinner. A much better, nicer and cheaper choice!

I have been here a few times. It has a really good feel to it. Yes, it could do with some new carpets and decoration, but it is clean and tidy and has a 1920,s feet to it. I will stay there again in the future

The sea view is just breathtaking

We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Westminster. The room was a great size and the sea view was just breathtaking. The room was wonderfully clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly. It has an old world charm with all the modern comforts. It is situated right on the beach and on the edge of the old town - so a perfect location. We had a wonderful 3 nights in Menton and I would highly recommend the Royal Westminster.

Great location

Ideal location and nice size room. Balcony isn’t very big, but great views, very expensive for what we got. The hotel needs updating in places and the bathroom/toilet room wasn’t very clean. The weather was quite hot when we arrived (9th May), there was no air conditioning, so asked at reception and was advised it wasn’t air conditioning weather yet, so the system was still on heat. Breakfast was nice, plenty of choice and the staff are lovely.

Menton is a lovely place to stay and the hotel is conveniently located across the road from the beach, near the centre of the old town and a short walk from the station. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and some beautiful gardens to visit. Transport links are good so a day trip to Nice or into Italy is simple. A warning about the beach, getting in and out of the water is tricky. The hotel is a handsome old building but there has been a lack of investment in recent years. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. We had a large comfortable room, which was kept in a good state of cleanliness by the staff. But there was some peeling paint, the shower door needed a seal at the bottom to stop the bathroom floor flooding, the TV didn't get the channels it was supposed to, the a/c wasn't up to the task in a heat wave though after a few days a technician was able to turn it up a notch. I would have given the hotel 4 stars, but the real let down was the restaurant. Breakfast offered the usual range but a very limited selection and poor replenishment. Self-service on trays made it feel like the works canteen. We tried to have dinner our first night but it was only for those on half board with a no choice set menu. Lunch was also unavailable when we arrived at 1.20 although it was billed to finish at 1.30. I suspect management is cutting corners on maintenance and has insufficient kitchen staff to cope, which is a pity because it could be a really super hotel.

Beautiful view from the balcony. Room was cleaned daily. Old hotel that needs renovation, especially in the common areas. Same poor breakfast every day (7 days) . No privacy between the balconies. English language is a problem even for the reception staff and most of them need customer and hospitality training.
