Hotel contacted us in advance to ask when we would come. We telephoned and asked whether 2pm would be ok (knowing check in was at 3pm). They said "no problem" and offered to send a car. We declined the car and said we'd take a taxi (we were transferring from another hotel and didn't want the pressure of knowing they would turn up at a specific time).
On arrival at 2pm told room wasn't ready and left sitting in lobby waiting ... for 1 1/2 hours. No drinks offered or acknowledgement that we were waiting. Eventually reapproached front desk and complained at 3:30. Complaint was handled very professionally.
Hotel did make good by sending written apology and fruit basket plus access to executive lounge, so credit for that. Bottom line is we lost an afternoon when we could have been out and about. If they'd told us upfront not to turn up before 3pm, we would have organised things differently.
Other than this no other complaints. Hotel is a bit isolated but very nice if all you want to do is chill after a number of days in Istanbul. Room and balcony were very nice.
