Welcoming and efficient staff. Rooms are spotlessly clean, well equipped, comfortable and modern fittings. Wide choice at breakfast with friendly and warm staff. Overall felt like a 4 rather than a 3 star hotel, and having driven past it a million times in the past but stayed at the 2 hotels very close by instead, I would definitely choose the Regent over the other local hotels in future. The staff really make the place :)

Good hotel well worth it's star rating. Staff were all friendly and helpful, service good. Food good. Location at Waterhead lovely (a bit of a walk into Ambleside but only 15 mins steady stroll). Just one downside which had the potential to, but didn't, spoil our stay that being that the hotel was having an extension constructed at the time of our stay which impacted on parking spaces. The number of parking spaces were just about adequate I would say for when the hotel was full at the current size. However the building work resulted in a number of parking places being barriered off all night in readiness for the builder's vehicles the following morning. Although staff moved their own vehicles to make room for guests it was a bit of a worry whether you were going to get a parking space or not. This will probably be just a short term problem over the next few months whilst the building work is completed and as I say it didn't cause us too much inconvenience however it would have been nice to know in advance. I would however be surprised if there are sufficient parking spaces when the hotel extension has been completed?

Hotel by the lake ..
Nice hotel .good standard and location by the lake but quite far out of Ambleside . Rooms were not in main hotel so you have to walk outside to an adjacent building . No lift.

Birthday break in Ambleside
Lovely hotel. Great location. Breakfast was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the restaurant staff. In fact all the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.
