I think the Borealis Hotel is a gem. It has a very nice sitting area in the main house; the restaurant was good, and the room we had was clean and comfortable. The staff was good and the service excellent. I also enjoyed the fact that the hotel had a bar. I highly recommend this hotel. WBW

A warm welcome and ideal location
We had a wonderful stay at the Borealis. Our hosts could not have made us feel more welcome. The room was clean, cozy and comfortable. The location of the hotel within the Golden Circle is ideal--just 10 minutes from Kerid crater and 15 min or so from Thingvellir National Park. We also enjoyed a very nice buffet dinner in the dining room and a great breakfast in the morning. An extremely convenient place to stay and a great experience with wonderful hosts!

This place is so cute. I loved the dogs on the property. They had dinner which was a life saver since there’s no dining nearby. The room was nice and quiet. Bring your own toiletries as there’s nothing provided. You’ll also need a mask for sleeping since the curtains are not blackout. Overall I’d stay again!

4/10 Fair

The hotel itself was very clean and charming, and I'd like to think my experience was an anomaly, but it was extremely understaffed the night I was there. The same man (who was clearly trying his best, so I don't fault him) seemed to function as front desk receptionist, waiter, and cook. I waited over 10 minutes to check in because the front desk wasn't staffed; it turned out the man was tending to the guests in the dining room. Dinner was also obscenely overpriced for a poorly cooked, dried out chicken breast. Finally, a fuse blew when I was there, leaving me to navigate my room with my cellphone flashlight all night. I also couldn't charge my phone, so I had to keep it on battery saver and charge it in the car the next morning. There was no staff member around at night to ask about the blown fuse, but they restored power the next morning. Overall, a disappointing stay because of staffing reasons. Hopefully they improve on that.

Good place to stay in the area of Golden Circle
Our room was spacious and comfortable. It was clean and well prepared for our arrival. Location of the hotel is excellent, in the heart of Golden Circle so all interesting places are close and to be reached easily by car. Breakfast very good. There is also a hot tub but we did not try it. Staff was friendly and helpful.

6/10 Good

Cozy hotel but very basic. No TV, black out curtains, wash cloths, bar soap, conditioner, kleenex (just little things I like to see in my room). Had to search for front desk help as he was also the waiter. Checked out day early.
