Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile

Straw like mattress. Poor pillows. Heat either to hot or to cold. Good staff. Attached restaurant knew only how to serve hot food cold.

My visit was to attend a concert at Chicago Theatre. I have to say this hotel surpassed my expectation, in every area; customer service, cleanliness, location to restaurants, public transportation, and if you don't mind walking everything is within walking distance.

The hotel elevators were being upgraded during my stay, which didn't cause massive inconvenience but the elevators sure do need upgrading! The whole place could use a little overhaul as it is starting to look dated. I have a few other niggles. The coffee replenishment was decaf only for two of my five days and the bathroom only received conditioner for one day. These are little niggles, but they niggle. I left my passport in the room safe, which caused a minor disaster. The annoying thing is that the safe was opened when they serviced my room (they have a system for doing that) but the hotel did not contact me... I was sat in their bar for two hours after checking out... In the event, I didn't realise until I arrived at the airport and then it was too late. I went back to the hotel and they returned my passport and everything else in the safe. Very professional. Very courteous. I have no complaints there, but a text or an email a couple of hours earlier would have been amazingly helpful. Beyond that, the hotel is generally good, staff were great, the attached restaurant and bar very handy. The local area is great. Convenient for lots of bars, restaurants, cinemas, theatre and the CPA. I recommend for sure, but a little more attention to detail will take the place from good to excellent.

With so many choices to choose from it was hard to decide where to stay. I’m so glad I picked this hotel! Check in was fast and they didn’t charge me an early check in fee! The room was clean, large and had great views of the city. Everything we wanted to see and do was in walking distance from here. Close to pubs, restaurants, sight seeing and shopping. I have to give a shout out to Reggie. He made our check in and our entire hotel stay fabulous and special. He’s a true gem of this hotel and the city. I am pleased that I won’t have to look any further for future stays. We will be back and I highly recommend this location.
