Nice stay for a family weekend. Property could have done with a deep clean, the baking trays/oven looks like its never been cleaned Great base and served its purpose

Nice place bit dear

Great staff. Nice place owned by Butcombe serving nice but overpriced food and beer. Roomrate was good though

Comfy bed!

The hotel was absolutely wonderful! A perfect stop along our Cotswolds journey! The staff was super friendly when we checked in and was sure to let us know of timings for food and drinks! We had supper there which was a little above average. Perfect for an easy night. The patio out back was beautiful too! The bed was SUPER comfortable which made for a great night sleep!

Convenient for M4, great food and drink.

Very friendly welcome by the landlord. Lovely rooms and surprisingly quiet given that they are above the bar & restaurant. Also, surprisingly quiet given that they are on an A road. Really nice bar and restaurant - food is amazing! Very convenient for the M4 - I had a 9.30am meeting in North Bristol, left and 8.45 and got there easilly.

Great few days …..

First class service provided by management and staff, nothing too much and they clearly enjoy what they do. Restaurant of a good standard, breakfast offer should be reviewed, needs to be more ‘homely’ in keeping with the premises e.g. get some back bacon and grill it. Great place to spend a couple of days but rooms need refurbishment

Excellent team who made us feel very welcome. Great dinner and breakfast (normally stressful for a dairy-free and gluten-free person). Excellent service, which was quick but not intrusive and very well informed. A lovely pub in a great location with a superb team working there. Thank you

Good but could be better

Great staff & food and comfy bed but a few bits not ideal. Quite noisy. You have to be in the pub for the WiFi to connect before you can use it in your room. Didn’t realise there was no shower, only a bath. No hairdryer in the room. Overall good but a few easy improvements needed

6/10 Good

Food and service from the bar staff good, but the room was very tired, very dusty and dirty around the bedside tables. Only a bath, no standing space for a shower. Bath took over 25 minutes to fill.

2/10 Poor

Awful

Maybe if you have a meal here, it is passable, but based on our overnight stay I would say “don’t “. Apart from the furniture being old and worn, the room was shocking and the bathroom shameful. A hole in the ceiling, dirty black shower and hose, and hairs in plug hole not to mention the dirt in the corners of the rooms , a broken window, cobwebs everywhere. I’ve never stayed anywhere as poor. The bedding, however, did look clean. I feel sorry for the staff who were very pleasant. Due to an apparent issue with the freezer, many items were off the menu. Serious attention required to justify paying the price.

In need of a manager to teach staff professionalism, although most of the staff where welcoming they were very noisy with chattering

I found it to be very expensive so what I got The room was not clean The TV didn’t work No WiFi connection If it wasn’t for the lovely staff I would have complained and ask for some kind of refund. The breakfast was very good

Ideal location and staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Accomodation was tired and in need of a bit of TLC.

I have stayed here on a few occasions and the main reason for coming back is the location. The walks roundabout are simply. beautiful. The hotel itself has some real pluses - it is quirky and full of character. But this does translate in some cases as shabby (threadbare carpet). The breakfast cooked to order is delicious. I love that they offer fresh milk of your choice and not those horrible sachets/pots of UHT milk - nice touch. However, there is not enough light in the rooms and at the moment there is no restaurant in the evening on Monday's and Tuesday's. But the communication is second to none and that is why, despite a few grumbles, I will go back.

I, unfortunately, wasn’t able to stay very long but, what I did see was very interesting as an ‘olde worlde’ British pub. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was generous and very tasty. The one thing that was a disconcerting surprise was the fact that on Monday morning, I was suddenly informed that there was no food on Monday nights; this was in spite of two or three emails asking if I wanted to book a table for the evening meal for the two nights I was staying there.

Value for Money

Lovely pub, very friendly & helpful staff. Dined in the evening & had a lovely meal and a really good breakfast the next morning with lots of choices. The bedroom was a little disappointing, it could do with a deep clean, lots of dust etc and no standing shower facility, which is a problem when you are 6ft 3” & the bathroom has sloping ceilings! Admittedly I understand not everyone is 6ft 3” so it’s not the pubs fault but something to bear in mind when booking. On the whole a pleasant stay & certainly value for money given a fabulous breakfast is included.
