Kichanga Lodge

My husband and I stayed at Kichanga Lodge for four nights. The lodge is semi isolated so the beach felt private. The rooms are simple and have a rustic feel. It is a great place to be lazy and just relax and enjoy the scenery of the ocean and watching the changing tides. The owner of the resort is very involved in making sure his guests are happy. He […] makes sure to meet the guests staying at the lodge and that they are enjoying their stay. The food is also very good! Fantastic stay at Kichanga Lodge with family - had deluxe room that included separate room for the children in cottage. Be sure to walk out slightly left during low tide to see thousands of large, colourful starfish. The Rock is only a 20 minute walk down the beach as well. Owner is very friendly and helpful. Great to be away from everything. One thing to be aware, there is nothing close, so be prepared. We loved it as a family after having been travelling for a month. We had time to catch up on schoolwork. Staff made our stay.

Kichanga Lodge is one of the most fantastic places to stay. Friendly , warm staff, amazing hospitality, the food was scrummy fresh, clean and delicious. Kichanga's staff is wonderful. The food was excellent and plentiful (and Breakfast and Dinner were included in our price). And of course the beach is spectacular. We enjoyed our bungalow, however, it was difficult to sleep in the humidity. A/C would have made all the difference. We stayed 3 nights at Kichanga Lodge and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Our hut was basic but clean, and dispite no AC, it was cool enough to sleep with the fan (and seabreeze). What I liked most was that it was so remote, and with relatively few huts you don't feel like you are in a tourist trap, and you feel like the service is very personalised and […] the staff remember you. The level of service was very good, and generally great food. My only gripe was that being quite a dusty area, the sand on the beach almost felt a bit dirty. the beach in Nungwi (north of the island) was better (although much more crowded). I can recommend goingdown the beach for lunch at the Rock, but watch out for sunburn! (its a good 30 min walk down the beach at low tide - be sure to get back before the tide comes in again, otherwise you can also get a (overpriced) taxi back. Overall, a very pleasant experience!
