We were very pleased with the hotel. Friendly staff, clean and plenty to do. We know that it is a new hotel and a few things need to be worked out with the maintenance , but nothing to worry about. Wunderful accommodations. The bed was total comfort. Great shower, room for two. Large hot tub in the room. The A/C was perfect for those of us that live in the northern midwest. Nice resort for couples. Rooms are spacious and very clean. The grounds are well maintained and very clean as well. Many resturants to choose from with no reservations required. The time spent on trying to sell me vacation ownership would have been better spent on showing me were the resturants and theaters are located. We have been to many Secrets Resorts in the past but never in Puerto Vallarta. The amenities were nice, nothing out of the ordinary. Service in all areas was just plain slow. Next to the hotel there must have homeless people or something because there were shacks, random loose dogs running around and people sleeping under these said shacks.Our room […] was on the 9th floor and positioned in an area that we were woken up every morning at 4:30am to a rooster (owned by the homeless i would bet) and pretty much did his cocka doodle doo every hour after that. Check out time is noon and when we went to check out (along with a lot of other people) they only had 1 person working! Overall, nice resort. Very nice new hotel. The Secrets side is adult only all inclusive, the One side is for families. Food was not good, two of the five restaurants were not even open. Steak was ordered as medium, served very well done basically burnt. Too much concrete around the pool, would prefer either sand or some other natural material than concrete. The hotel was nice, friendly staff, but as we are not really resort type people, all the forced activities, piped pop music, and the hundreds of people get a little much after a day. Also,the fire alarm went off every morning at about 2:00 AM for no apparent reason..... Food, OK, not great but about what you expect at an all inclusive.

Loved our stay on the secrets preferred side. The hotel provided everything you could want and did it with a smile. Any thing that was not included in the up front cost was always announced so no surprises. The resort credits were disappointing and never actually covered the entire cost of anything it was more of a coupon. But if you wanted the extra […] spa, wine or special dinner and things it would have helped with the cost. It was just too easy to enjoy yourself w/o those so we did not use them. The food was wonderful everywhere we went. The staff always seemed to have someone ready to get you a drink by the pool the only time we had lil trouble was with room service (messed up our order) but they were always ready to make it right and did it fast! Loved all the activites they had for you especially the kayaking! Saw whales from the resort and manta rays. The cars were new and clean and only about six dollars to get you downtown and we walked back on the beach which did get long but could be done in 30-40 min. overall very good, you should go! This all exclusive resort provided my wife and i a wonderful stay, very clean with high quality food, drinks and friendly staff service and we are looking forward to our next stay. there was no issues with the family side of the resort from our perspective, the gym and spa areas were excellant. our hotel room allowed for a nice view to the north west […] whie the family side of the resort offered the best view of the old Puerta Vallarta. The only negative i would comment on (no fault of the resort) would be the vacant property to the south of the resort needs to be cleaned up and this would leave negative images to most travellers. Wonderful hotel...service was spectacular...facility was pristine and beautiful and surprisingly...the food...for an all-inclusive resort...was well above average. The breakfast buffet is not to be missed is the rack of lamb in the Bordeaux restaurant. Spirited volleyball games on the beach everyday was great fun. The hotel is nice. Excecpt there is a loud and constant noise from the machine room that is built in the center and the noise is directected at preferd club section of the hotel where we had paid extra for. I tried to change my room but they said it will be additional $1600 to ocean front. Evan with ear plugs in it still kept me awake most of the night. […] I hope the management do something about it. We have stayed at many all-inclusive hotels and this one was a bit a of disappointment. Most of staff very friendly and gave very good service but overall feel of hotel was lacking. Food was not good in oriental restaurant. Breakfast buffet was average. The real problem I had was pool area and people spending all day in the swim up pool and not getting […] out for hours. Very disgusting to put lightly. Just for that reason I would not go in that pool and it was not just one or two people. Room was OK compared to others I have stayed in. Main reason we picked this hotel was previous reviews and it was very close to downtown. 10-15 min. cab ride to old town...probably next time stay further out at a better quality place and spend the extra time in a taxi when want to visit downtown for all the really great restaurants! Loved the modern design of the hotel. Comfortable room and bed, enjoyed the double-sinks. We had an oceanview room on the 5th floor. If you're an early-to-bed person, we could hear the music from the lobby until 11 pm and wished we were on a higher floor that may have been quieter. Food was good, meals were leisurely. Beautiful new Secrets property with exceptional service during our 8 night stay. We had what was described at booking as an 'ocean view' room in the Preferred Club at Secrets. Echoing other comments the difference between an 'ocean view' and 'garden view' rooms in the Preferred Club cannot be much given the layout of the property as everyone can see […] both ocean and garden from any of these rooms except the ocean front suites. Our second trip to a Secrets property after Playa del Carmen last year. Superior food at each of the restaurants (we skipped Capers this year) with highest marks to Tamarindo. Generally the higher volume of quality seafood dishes was superior to our trip last year at the other Secrets property. Wait staff, Gustavo in particular, at the pool/beach area were wonderful. We do tip regularly which has an impact on level of service but regardless the work of the wait and entertainment staff around the pools is superb. Private ocean front dinner was expensive (Gold Menu) but fun with a dedicated waiter and 4 high-end and scrumptious courses. Gym facility is fully updated if small and the common areas are well designed to accentuate the natural beauty of the setting in a minimal, clean environment. Not as good as Excellence but close. No kids as some said where around. Spa was hard to go thru due to noone knowing English there. Also, there never showed you the room, just pointed you where to go. Otherwise food was very good and overall staff friendliness was very good. Plenty of towels in beach area. Fantastic food & far beyond our expectations for an all-inclusive. All the staff were amazing! A brand-new hotel & great quality facilities. The 'family' side of the hotel (Now Amber) with children is kept separate, so you can really enjoy a peaceful adults-only vacation, though you can also use all the facilities at Now Amber if you choose.

Our experience was excellent in all regards except of one irksome detail. Upon checking in we were told that we had to pay an additional $50 US per person for New Years Gala dinner in the Bordeaux or the ballroom. When we went to the Bordeaux to make reservations for 7 pm, we were told that we needed reservations only if we wished one of the exclusive […] wines they were offering. We were advised on three separate occasions that reservations weren't needed for early seating, once by the waiter who served us the night before New Year's Eve. When we arrived at the Bordeaux at 7 pm we were denied access by the hostess because we didn't have a reservation. No supervisor was available to assist us. The conserige did arrange for us to have dinner in the Mexican restaurant amidst a number of families with children. Coincidentally the regular menu was available in that resturant and our waiter requested us to pay extra for the "special menu". When we informed him we had he said we should be somewhere else. It was resolved, we did eat, it was good, but the whole experience left a bad taste. Management of this hotel appears to want to hide in the background and not want to deal with little inconveniences that can arise. Continua a leggere

Amazing brand new hotel! All the staff is very kind as always at the Secrets. Wonderful room nicely decorated with a spectalucar ocean view for the sunset (the best sunsets are on the Pacific cost). Great food all day long: several restaurants with à la carte service, numerous choice of all kind of beverages. Exceptional spa service with qualified staff! […] 20 minutes walk form the Malecon of Puerto Vallarta old town (a must see!) or you can easily get a cab from the hotel (no overcharge for being a service from the hotel!). Secret's Hotel and Resort is a 5 star experience from start to finish. We appreciated the glass of champagne upon arrival and the friendly, welcoming staff not to mention the beautiful view and stunning reception/lobby area. We were considering an upgrade to an Ocean View room at check in however we decided against this and were pleased to discover […] that our room, while only on the second floor, did offer a view of the pool and ocean beyond. The bedroom was very nicely decorated, modern and comfortable. The open plan bathroom with jetted tub, twin sinks, romantic lighting and soft drapes was really special. There was a good choice of dining options and entertainment including dining on the beach with fire dancers for entertainment! I have stayed at other all inclusive resorts before - the wrist band type. It was nice not to have to wear a wrist band here and even better was being able to have access to all restaurants with no 'first come first serve' booking restrictions. Continua a leggere

This is truly a deluxe all inclusive for anyone who needs a getaway from the hectic world. From the moment you step on property, the staff does everything possible to make you feel welcome. While check-in is a bit lengthy it's not onerous. The food is better than average all-inclusives. Portions are small (but I think right size). The little Coco Cafe […] is a great little place for an afternoon coffee and treat. We were a bit skeptical about the spa... it is a bit pricey. But, we had the best massages we'd ever had at a Mexican resort... and pretty decent body treatments. They are extremely attentive in the spa... always making sure you have fresh towels, something to eat or drink... generally, extremely pampered. We did yoga on the beach several mornings... yoga instructor was top notch... gym and fitness facilities are better than average. There are activities from morning to night if you are so inclined to participate. And, it's a pleasant 20 minute walk into Puerto Vallarta. Plus, they enforced the "adults-only" policy on the Secrets side of the resort which made for a very restful vacation. Our room was fantastic. It is a bit more bathroom than one needs but no worry... very comfortable bedding and air conditioning... decent amenities in the bathroom... large tub and very large shower. The hotel is nicely located, 10 min from the airport and 5 min from downtown. The facilities are brand new. At this time of the year (end of November), the weather is almost perfect. It has seven restaurants, ranging from French, Italian, to Japanese, Mexico, etc. The service and setting of the restaurants are decent, food is clean and good but not […] excellent. What I like most about the hotel are the view from the room and the deck of the hotel lobby, a variety of activities arranged such as aerobic dance in the pool, entertainment shows and some classes. Since it's an all inclusive resort, all the above are free. Staff are friendly and attentive. The beach is pretty small, less than 5 minutes walk. You have many places to sit and drink within the resort, but no large enough to take a good walk, you have to go the boardwalk or downtown, fortunately it's not far, only 5 min drive (5 US$). We heard that the hotel just opened in April, so was relatively new . The decor of the hotel is modern & zen. The room is clean and luxurious. All the staffs are very nice. All the restaurants are just pretty not tasty. Now Amber resort have better buffet than Secrets. The beach is beautiful but you can't really swim in the ocean because it's all rocks […] underneath the water, not sand. But the beautiful pools they have are good enough. Too many Mexican vendors walking around the beach trying to sell stuff, that was annoying. It was our 10 year wedding aniversary and the hotel surprised us with roses in our room, very sweet of them :) Beware of the time share meeting they offer you when you check in. They asked us to go to a meeting about the hotel in return for free excursion tours. We were told that it would only take 2 hours of our time during breakfast, but it was more like 6 hours of our time. Everytime we said we are not interested and need to go, they keep sending over different sales person to try to push their product. They did give us the tour they promised and it was a great tour, but overall it wasn't worth our time since we were only there for 4 days. In the end, I love the hotel and will definitely come back again. There are a lot more of Puerto Vallarta that I didn't get to see and do, so will try to go back and visit again in the future. In the bar, if you wanted a drink, you had to go and get it yourself.The breakfast buffet is the worst we have ever tasted because it was always served cold. The hotel is very beautiful, the room very nice but don't make the mistake we did by paying extra for a junior suite with ocean view. ALL rooms have ocean view. The pool area is pretty and very […] clean but again, the service was terrible. It got a bit better by the end of the week but then we found out that they had hired more people. The best food was at the Ocean restaurant. The Spa is a rip-off - more expensive than at home. Don't waste your hard earned money because the best kept secret at this resort is a small massage parlor right at the gates to the hotel. For $25/hour you get the best massage of your life. The lobby was gorgeous but we missed a bigger bar where people could get together in the evenings.They also did not organize any theme events like most other resorts do. The only events we saw were all private. The staff is accommodating any time you ask for help. I think the biggest problems at this resort is the management and the lack of training of their staff. Something is not right when you sit and wait for 15 minutes to get your glass of water and at the same time two or three servers stand at the side having a conversation. If you like long walks on the beach it is better to stay at a resort in Nuevo Vallarta. We are pretty sure Secrets Vallarta will get better with time but we will not return. Continua a leggere
