Had a great stay! Bright cheerful rooms, gardens and pool area. Several lounge chairs and umbrellas. Walking distance to Old Scottsdale. No issue with street noise. This hotel was very nice. The atomosphere was contemporary, friendly and fun-with unexpected throughout the hotel. The staff was very friendly and accomadating. The room was comfortable, except there was a dining table and a desk w/chair in our double room; a comfy chair would have been more suitable to than the dining table. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this boutique hotel. Since I travel 15 days a month to a hotel for business I find this hotel to be quite refreshing from the business hotel environment. It's more of a 'resort' than a hotel. The staff is oh so friendly and helpful. From the valet on arrival, to the restaurant/bar staff, to the pool staff and front desk and housekeeping. […] Everyone is extremely accommadating and smiling. The food is great and the pool area very 'south beach' like, which being from South Florida, it's like a bit of 'home'. I've stayed here a few times and am looking forward to the next visit. I have stayed here before and returned because this hotel has so much character and the service is excellent! I originally booked one night and extended for two more. The location is great for walking into Old Town Scottsdale and a short ride to many local favorites. The hotel grounds are very well kept and the staff is extremely friendly. It is pet […] friendly and the pool area and restaurants/bars are fantastic. The only issue I had was one day there were small children screaming at the pool. There ARE two pools but none designated just for kids. The smaller pool doesn't get as much direct sunlight. The parents didn't feel the need to contain their obnoxious children. The pool area is fun and relaxing in general. I travel extensively for work and it is nice to go to a resort that doesn't seem like a long boring hallway into nowhere. The colors around the property are vibrant !. The staff would do everything they can to make sure you enjoy your stay. I have been to numerous hotels all over and this is one of my favorites. From valet, to housekeeping, to bar/wait staff and front desk, I give this property a THUMBS UP! EXCELLENT!! you can get a car service or cab to go to other areas including the mall or other restaurants. The restaurant on property is delicious! The outdoor patio overlooks the park area and if you're a sun seeker, you can get sun and have lunch too! The food is excellent and they made me a special request lunch. The expression "lipstick on a pig" comes to mind. They painted the place and that was it. Overpriced for what you get. Based on the appearance of the staff they are trying to attract under 25 year old crowd. Very noisy, party crowd. I would not stay there again.

They did a great job of rehabbing an older "motel" into a chic "new" hotel. Rooms are bit cramped, but very nicely done. Great spot for Spring Training or visiting downtown Scottsdale. Very easy to walk to a lot of attractions.

I absolutely loved this hotel! It is real luxury! The room is decorated beautifully with all high quality items. The bed was so comfterable. The staff were friendly. The pools were beautiful but the weather did not suit us using them. Liked the hotel, pool area the best ever, restaurant excellent but it is clear they took a very old hotel and tried to put some paint on it and call it a day. Our room odd with a sliding door to the bathroom that didnt work properly and a bed that squeaked. I think they have the right idea, the location is excellent, again the pool area perfect, restaurant […] really good but they missed the mark on the room. Great location, walk or take trolley to Historic Scottsdale or enjoy the park and Performing Arts Theater right out from the restaurant's patio. Two lovely pools, and good fitness room. Friendly staff, food good at the restaurant but a bit pricey especially since near less expensive restaurants. Our stay at the Saguaro was one of the most relaxing hotel stays ever! The staff was wonderful, the hotel was adorable, the food was excellent, and the hotel grounds were beautiful. We didn't even want to leave the pool when the sun set.

The pictures make this hotel look a lot better than it is in person. I believe that the company bought an old motel and then added color to make it more modern and appealing. It was quite disappointing although the staff were really nice.

I have stayed in this hotel a few times when it was under different ownership. I think it has had 3 or 4 different owners over the last 8-9 years. I love JDV hotels as a rule, but overall this was a cosmetic overhaul from the past property. The place is a bit run down and really needs a more complete overhaul to be of the quality that JDV usually lives […] at. The overall property is very nice and the rooms are large. The beds are a bit too soft for my liking. Overall it is a nice place. The hotel has better lighting externally than when it was under other ownership which is nice because all the parking and access to the rooms is all external. Continua a leggere

The hotel was lovely. A great recent renovation has create a new ambiance of this great older hotel! I can not tell you of a hotel when the staff have been more friendly and helpful! What a joy! Thanks for the wonderful stay which included a little work and play.

Resort and restuarants were perfect! Loved the Wiskey for dinner. Was not happy with the parking fee for self park. Do not like hidden charges

Pleasant surprise. Very comfortable stay, staff was very friendly and helpful. Restaurants were the best in the immediate area. The in room heater was very noisy and needs to be replaced. Overall would recommend it for a stay in Phoenix.

At check-in they were promoting their new bar/restaurant. So, my GF walked about 15 ft and BAM! free margaritas. Awesome! After that, the front desk lady, both guys at the valet, all remarkably nice. And, I don't mean, they're-supposed-to-be-nice kind of nice. I mean, much nicer than that. For me, the decor was pleasant. For my GF, she was stoked. She […] loved the eclectic nature of the place, the color scheme, the style, just everything. Personally, I just like really nice people. The ding on Condition was more due to the remodeling aspect of things. To be honest, if a place is going to remodel, that should be a 6 out of 5 for Customer Service, since so many hotels I stay at need to be upgraded, but for Condition a 4 is fair. This hotel offers everything and first class service. I was treated like a VIP from the moment that I pulled in and met the valet staff. Rooms were dated but renovated with a nice touch. I enjoyed the relaxing pools and spa.

Pros: Nicely updated, clean linens, good location. Cons: Parking fees (uber-ridiculous for AZ); really noisy/squeaky bed frames - I could hear mine every time I moved, including the two adjacent beds and the one above me; S-L-A-M-ming doors from 9PM-1:30 AM, then again beginning at 7AM. Overall, this is an outdated, poorly designed motor lodge from […] the 50's/60's. They were not very adept at architecture back then, and this place has a two-inch gap between the door joining the rooms. I could hear the bathroom, and footsteps on the carpet like someone was in my room. The doors are outdated and SLAM really loudly, just like every other hotel (which is really the worst thing about hotels IMHO) Sure the kitsch factor is cute, however, just because it is called a "boutique" does not make it extraordinary. A beautiful place with bright colors and an awesome pool area(s). The rooms are comfortable. My only complaint is that the beds are on a wood base so there is no box springs and the wooden base creaks loudly when moving on and off the bed. Other than that I would definitely recommend and will stay again next time in Scottsdale.

If you wish to be close to Old Towne Scottsdale and surrounding area, including the shopping mall and restaurants - this is a perfect location. The hotel is just re-opened 2 months ago - so it is clean and freshly painted (in some VERY bright colors). A few frustrations...I didnt realize the hotel is more "motel" style - in that all rooms are in separate […] buildings from the lobby/restaurants and you enter from an outside corridor...so there was more street noise than anticipated. The room was clean and a decent size, but the balcony had barely enough room to stand - and the "pool view" was really of some very large trees that obscured the pool completely. The pool area was very nice however, with a large pool and plenty of comfortable lounge chairs. Back to the room - the bathroom door is a slider (Like a closet door) and it didnt completely close, nor does it lock. If you like a little privacy - this is a problem. There is no dresser - but rather a built in cabinet that has 3 shelves that dont slide out, so every time you wish to take something out - everything needs to come out. The lighting is dim - so not good for reading in bed and no coffee maker in the room - you have to walk all the way over to the lobby to buy coffee Also I found the bed to be a bit too firm. Also - $14.00 a nite to park in a lot outside the room seems excessive. Continua a leggere

We stayed at The Saguaro for New Years Eve and had a great time. It was very close to everything we wanted to be close to and the accommodations were great. The pool/hot tub area were both beautiful. The hot tub could have been cleaner, but it felt great overall. The hotel was up front that there were renovations going on so some of the outdated features […] were going to be replaced. We stayed at the Sagauro 3 nights while in town for the Fiesta Bowl Half Marathon. The location was convenient to shopping, food, etc. The staff was very helpful and tried to accomodate all our needs. For instance, the rooms are not equiped with coffee makers which we found surprising - we called the front desk to ask if they had one that could be brought […] to the room - the answer was no however, she called back 5 minutes later to say she had found that the Starbucks down the street and if we gave her our order, she would have the bellhop go there for us the next morning and bring us our coffees. We appreciated the extra effort and initiative. The room was fine - liked the colors but looked like there was still some work to be done - I would not have thought it was newly renovated if I hadn't read that on the website. The Saguaro was still in its shakedown phase, having just recently opened when we stayed there over Thanksgiving. Inconveniences were insignificant, but the management smoothed whatever feathers were ruffled with free breakfasts for all. This is a stylish hotel in an excellent location, within a block from downtown Scottsdale, yet seems more like a […] resort because the grounds back up to the Civic Center Mall (gardens). A few days away at the Saguaro was just what the doctor ordered. The renovation is fantastic, the rooms are comfortable and the service is impeccable. The pool is wonderful with cabanas near by furnished with couches, fireplaces and tvs. We stayed with the kids and walked to dinner in Old Town Scottsdale every night. Old hotel (motel?) redone in startling bright colors. No elevator in three story buildings. Hallways are concrete and fresh air, so noise in hallway reverberates. A/C units outdated and noisy. Very old motel nicely redone. Location was nice and quiet, grounds well kept. On my arrival, room had not been cleaned and had to move to another. No big deal, minor inconvenience. At checkout, found out that motel charges $20 per day for parking (uncovered find your own spot, by the way). This wasn't listed under the description and was an unpleasant […] surprise as I thought I was getting a good deal during the "grand opening". While the hotel is quite oviously a remodeled old Holiday Inn, and presents issues inherent in an older property(ie. noise), the property mangers have done a pretty good job at renovation of a challenging hotel. What really stands out however is the staff. Every single staff member we came in contact with was exceptionally friendly and accomodating. […] Really made us feel welcome. While we had an introductory rate which made the hotel a really good value and we were going to book it again in April but felt that the new rates were too high for this style of property. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here over the Thanksgiving weekend and loved every minute of it! The staff was exceptionally friendly. This location has gone through a series of names/owners, formerly the James, Mondrian & Theodore. Its new "look" is quite refreshing, bright & colorful elegance without the stuffiness. The staff was exceptional, food & drinks were incredible, looking forward to the opening of Distrito! Will definitely return!

This place is very fun and unique....great design. The pool is fantastic. The service was outstanding and the hotel sits right in old town Scottsdale which is so convenient. Oh and I must mention how comfortable the beds are.

I have been coming to this Hotel for years.. Been through all the name changes St James, Mondrian and now Saguaro. Even though certain parts of the property were not completed due to renovation the area where we were was Fabulous. Would recommend this Hotel.. Looking forward to staying here again.
