Noi,2 ragazzi di 21 e 25 anni a Chicago x divertimento x4giorni siamo super soddisfatti. a 5 minuti dalla metro centrale,staff veramente disponibile e pronto ad aiutarti,colazione sufficente (forse orario un pò troppo mattutino xki è in vacanza,fino […] alle 9e30..),pulizia buona,qualche pecca nella stanza come porta rumorosa al momento della chiusura e prese elettriche facili da raggiungere maggiormente dal letto inferiore del letto a castello. I with my family went for vacation in Chicago and most of the hotels are very expensive. Thus, I try to stay in a hostel and this is my first time to stay in it. I with my family stayed in a private bedroom with shared bathroom. At first, I am afraid that the shared bathroom is inconvenient for me, but surprisingly, it was cleaned and near to my bedroom. […] The best thing in this hostel is the breakfast. I went to other hotels to stay before and the breakfast is not as great as this hostel! The wifi signal is strong in the lobby, great people there who are friendly. The kitchen has lots of equipments where I can cook and store food in the refrigerator. The staffs are nice people, and they store luggage bags for me even after I check out because my train is late at night, so I can still travel around Chicago. Location is great, near a train station about 10 mins walk. The neighborhood is safe and there are lots of stores such as CVS pharmacy, McDonald. Nice location and conviniences for the most part. One major experience caused me to rate their service so low: I was asked for an ID upon check-in for scanning and keeping on file. The desk staff never returned the ID which I didn't notice until I was checking in 2 days later at a different location and couldn't locate my ID. When I called Getwaway, […] they confirmed having the ID. I found this to reflect poor customer service given that they knew very well it belonged to a guest and made no intent of leaving a message or reaching out to me during the 2 nights I stayed there. I subsequently learned that their manager holds 9-5 hours, helping to explain the "out of sight, out of mind" attitude toward something as important as your guests' ID. Other than that experience, I would say that the rooms need to have windows that can be opened if needed. The air quality was not the best because of this issue. I can only imagine the heat and smell in plain summer! The lack of a second means of egress in case of fire is of concern given that these windows are screwed down in order to hold the AC units that minimally achieve their purpose. Continua a leggere

This hostel was nice. My only complaints were that it was a but far out from McCormick Place and you Coul the doors slam/close all the time in the hallway.

The hostel is located in a good area, the facilities are well kept and modern. Everyone is friendly, and its a great place to meet people. Would definitely recommend this place to 20-something travelers.

I stayed here off and on for two weeks while traveling and they were SO accommodating. The staff was great, (Jason, Sierra and Luke rock) and the kitchen is a great size and functional. I appreciated how they took us out so many times.

The Chicago Getaway Hostel is a nice place to stay if you are looking for an inexpensive, no frills, room. The staff was extremely friendly! I requested a private room with shared bath. The room was kind of small, but it suited my purposes perfectly. Vending machine access, pool and foosball tables, internet access, continental breakfast, and other […] amenities were made available to me, though I did not use them. The only thing I was not thrilled with was the shared bath. Next time I stay there, and there will be a next time, I will go with private room with private bath. Staff was awesome. Room was clean. Bed was not so comfortable, but was a bunk bed.

Really very pleased with this! I came to Chicago for business, but needed a cheap place to stay. The location was quiet and accessible to bus stations and public transit, the free coffee and breakfast in the morning was nice and the bathrooms (and the rest of the hostel) was very clean and tidy. Most modern and well kept hostel I've every stayed ever, and I've been to 38 countries....

All we needed is somewhere to sleep near the congress theater andthe getaway was perfect. No lockouts, kind staff, and intresting people to meet. It was an overall great experience

Location, service, price... great! The nice, modern remodel was also a perk as well as the continental breakfast. Close to the Red Line, nice neighborhood. Would recommend checking out the Burwood Tap nearby for a drink. First time in Chicago and will definitely be back... and will be staying at this hostel.

I stayed in a private room with a bathroom. The lack of a TV and grungy carpet was the only way to notice I was not in a hotel room.

I am 62 and this was my first hostel stay. The staff was welcoming and helpful. My room with 1/2 bath was just as pictured and very clean. I have been in rooms almost as small in Europe. I needed a room for a night to attend an EXPO at McCormic Place. The location was great to be able to walk around to shops and resturants. Great location, location, location. As well as great management and staff. Very clean and comfortable.

The service/front desk personnel were exceptional. Very friendly upon check-in and then very helpful when I needed to find places to eat and navigate the public transportation. I tremendously enjoyed my stay at the hostel. The staff was friendly and informative. They gave excellent directions for anywhere I wanted to go. The hostel was located near the train line, which made it convenient and inexpensive to travel around town. Price is low and location is choice, in a lively neighborhood near the lakefront and Loop. It's for the young crowd, though--very Spartan rooms and noisy nights.

I live in Madison Wi, I even want to plan a weekend I have found the place to stay the getaway!!! Good rating from me for a Hostel.

Me and my friend ( both are students) were visiting Chicago for 2 days and we chose this place for stay. The location was excellent and close to all the subway stations. It was economical and comfortable.

Never stayed at hostel before. Nice people lots of internationals. Clean, nice community of people. Great location close to the train and buses and the price is just great!!!

this place is wonderful: simple, well-planned, spare but immaculately clean, located in a quiet neighborhood with many small restaurants, theatres nearby. Will definitely stay again next time I'm in Chicago!

Only stayed here one night of my six nights in Chicago but it was worth it. Overall satisfied. The staff was very helpful. Nice shady neighborhood. If you are visiting Chicago and are interested in the best dining and drinking establishments you'll want to stay on the north-side so this Hostel fits the bill. Great hostel with a large community room and outdoor patio. The furniture is basic but for a hostel the place is clean and the staff is friendly. The location isn't ideal if you want to do more downtown activities but it's convenient to a metra stop.

My daughter and I were in Chicago to look for an apartment for her, so weren't going to be in the room much, so this suited our needs nicely. My daughter enjoyed the international students and the community feel in the hostel. The desk clerks were very helpful and friendly. Having never stayed in a hostel before, my husband and I had no idea what to expect. We were only in Chicago for the weekend for a concert and couldn't afford the $$$$ prices other hotels were charging per night. We chose to get a private room with private bath. We were very pleased with our entire experience. We arrived at the hostel before check-in […] time, so our bags were held for us. When we came back later to get into our room, it was very clean. Our room came with two sets of bunk beds. Luckily one of the lower beds was a full, but even if it hadn't been, that would have been okay. I know other reviews have remarked on how hot the rooms are. We are from Mississippi and found the entire hostel very comfortable climate wise. It was sweltering in Chicago that weekend, even to us, and with the fan in our room it actually got chilly. The shower in our private bathroom was big enough for two sumo wrestlers to spar in. The night we checked in the hostel had a cook-out with hamburgers and hot dogs. We had to leave to get to our concert, so we didn't get to partake. There were left overs when we got back in the common kitchen, which I thought was nice. The next morning, a continental breakfast was offered with bagels, toast, cereal, fruit, and coffee. Some of the other pricier hotels we had looked at didn't even offer breakfast. The neighborhood the hostel is located in is mainly a residental neighborhood so it is fairly quiet around the area. It was about a 5-7 minute walk from one of the EL stops, but I can't remember which one. I definitely recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a nice, clean, quiet, safe, inexpensive place to stay in Chicago. Continua a leggere

We had a private room for 3 with a 1/2 bath. It was small. No tv or phone in the room. We did have air conditioning. The public bath and showers were nice and clean. There are several computers and a printer in the lobby free for guests to use. There is a nice dining area and kitchen. You can store pantry and refrigerated items in containters with your […] room # and check out date and have full use of the kitchen. The breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit, bagels, english muffins, toast etc. There is a nice patio area off the dining area with a grill for guest to use. The area is good. Clark street is just a block east with alot of resturants and shopping etc. Bus routes are on Clark also. The subway is 7 minutes west on fullerton. Yes, "hostel" is in this name, and it does have many features of a hostel: shared bathrooms, spartan facilities and service, etc, but Chicago Getaway hostel subverts many of my idea of a hostel during my 2-night stay, and I would recommend this hostel for people on a budget and would like to travel Chicago on transit: 1. While many hostels are in city […] centers, this one is actually located in an upscale neighborhood in Lincoln Park, 2 blocks west off Clark and walking distance to the Hungtington station of the "L," which serves both red and brown lines. The area is surrounded by magnolias that you can smell them! 2. The place is newly renovated (it was, probably, a "center for youth" before) and is sparkling clean. The decor is blues-influenced. 3. The only thing in the room is a bunker bed, a simple desk, a folding chair, a lamp, and a closet. As mentioned, it was spartan, but clean and new. 4. Clean kitchen and allows patrons to cook. They have fridges for patrons to store food. 5. Parking is generally not permitted, which does not matter to us. 6. The bathroom and showering facilities are also clean and does the job. Our only complaint was the bathrooms were not guarded by our (RFID) keys, which may cause a privacy issue. Continua a leggere

it is listed that this hotel has a breakfast buffet. definitely more so a continental breakfast. The options were various types of bread to make toast, two types of cereal, apples and bananas. Nothing else. No juice was offered, only milk and coffee.

Security is good! you can only get access to the elevator thru a door using your room key. Rooms are small but enough room to have visitors. The room we stayed at (it was 3 of us) did not have a private bathroom but it had its own sink. I really didn't care about the showers being at the end of the hallway, it reminded me of college! :) showers are clean. the hostel is clean. Young people, mostly travelers. the location is amazing, the hostel is located couple block away from N Clark Street which is the main street to take the bus! very convenient location!. there is free breakfast too! one thing i thought was pretty cool is their big tv screen which allows you to find maps, weather, entertainment etc. just by a click away. Overall my stay at the Getaway Hostel was wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone. The only issue we had was that the heat was turned off at night. That was fixed by asking the front desk for an extra blanket. I assume this is only an issue in spring, maybe fall too.
