Waverley Inn Halifax

A beautiful quaint hotel but the final experience upon check out left a negative tone to my stay. When checking out, the hotel staff member would not honor my CAA card for the member discount as she said there wasn't a note on file at the beginning of my stay that I was a CAA member (nor was I asked upon check in if I qualified for any discounts). I […] was a guest of the hotel for 8 days which is a sizeable amount of money. Something as simple as honoring my CAA card would not leave me feeling this way. The hotel itself is great - lots of history, incredibly friendly staff, great location. The only real complaint we had with this hotel were the the room we had (A Deluxe Queen) was a little small. This was our first time at the Waverley and since staying there we have booked for two more nights, with friends. We found the hotel staff welcoming and knowledgable. The afternoon tea was very good as well as the breakfast. Rooms were very clean and comfortable.

The hotel has character. The rooms are quaint. There is free internet. I'd go there again. But if you go to a room at the front (like #134, the PT Barnum room), beware Kariokee Wednesdays at the Blues Club across the street. Loud crowds on the street 'til 2am! My wife and I spent three nights at the Waverly last week and we loved it. My wife likes antiques and loved the Victorian decor in the room and throughout the hotel. This is an OLD hotel that has nice decor. Had to lug luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Staff friendly and helpful. If you like antiques you'll like this place.

We spent just one night here while visiting family but we would have quite happily stayed longer if we had more time. We chose this for our inlaws, who were visiting from NZ, as a little getaway in the midst of a month-long visit. They were thrilled with the grand old hotel with its amazing decor and architecture and Old Halifax location. We all strolled 3 doors down to the Henry House for a very memorable meal. My inlaws commented on how helpful the staff were and […] the person on front desk went above and beyond the call of duty in assisting my elderly mother-in-law in sending an email home to family and friends.
