Charleston Place - Superb Luxury Charleston

My girlfriends and I all turned 40 this year and chose the Charelston Place to celebrate. The staff are extremely nice and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful and very well kept. We splurged on the Club Level and this was one of our favorite things about the whole trip, well worth the extra money. The food, drinks and service in the Club are top notch. […] Our only bad experience was the quality of room service we ordered one night, not very edible, which was surprising compared to the Club Level food. It waa great. I was supprised that we have to pay for parking. The write up makes it appear to be free. The 24 hour club service would not serve bloddy marys before 11.

I would have entitled my review Great hotel but thought twice about it as it was a good hotel but what stopped it from being great is that I shelled out $550 for something that I did not get $550 worth of goods for. May be the location? great location true, but there are other hotels in the area. Everything was excellen - the room, the service, Internet access, location near all the sights in the downtown area, soft beds, etc. The exercise room was well equipped, but perhaps a little cramped, but easy to get to and a friendly atmosphere. The breakfast was good, but very expensive - we ended up having most of our meals outside of the hotel.

We had a lovely stay at Charleston Place and will stay again when we are in Charleston. It's directly across from the Market and everything in historic downtown Charleston. The hotel was superb and the staff was wonderful. We absolutely LOVED our bellman. He gave us a lot of great information since it was our first time there.

Charleston Place offers an unbeatable location for exploring the historic district. Our room was clean and well appointed. I had requested a king bed but found we had two doubles when we checked in - not a huge inconveniece. The Thoroughbred Cafe was excellent and overall we were very satisfied with our experience.

This is the perfect location to be in the middle of Historic Charleston. have Stayed here many times in years past and am never disappointed. Only imporovement would be to include a complimentary breakfast.

Pros: Hotel was beautiful and staff was professional and helpful. The location was great-- near to many great restaurants, King St. shopping, and the Marketplace. Cons: We did not get the king bed that we requested, only two double beds. There was no complimentary water or coffee/tea in the room (for the price paid, we would have at least expected that). […] There was some kind of weekend fair inside the hotel during our stay which made the common spaces crowded and noisy. Bad room, booked king bed, at reception offerd twin doubles or upgrade to King with Balcony. Turned out to be noisy street, balcony not able to sit upon, no surfaces in room, one small table and tiny desk. Great location, very disappointing room. at $30 premium!

This hotel was well-kept and clean, but very noisy. Must have very thin walls between rooms. I could hear the man next door snoring, coughing, etc. all night. Woman in room on the other side was walking in high heels at 5:30am across hard wood floor entry and bath in her room and it woke me up. I'm not a light sleeper. Lots of partying going on in halls […] and outside until early morning hours. Housekeeping knocking loudly on a door somewhere down the hall at 11pm and yelling "housekeeping" repeatedly. Would have gotten more sleep in a Hampton Inn for a fraction of the cost. Continua a leggere

All the historic charm you might expect from a downtown Charleston hotel, with the service of a 5 star resort. Its location with easy walking to all the area attractions and great dining was a huge plus for us. The only 2 negatives- the tv entertainment system is a bit old without high def, on demand, or pay per view. And, though we had reserved a King […] room through expedia, we were given a room with 2 doubles. When we called the front desk, they said they were out of King rooms in our price category but we could pay $100 more to upgrade to a higher floor. Given that we only get to go out of town without the children once a year and that my husband is 6 foot 3, we had no choice but to upgrade. My husband and I spent 2 nights at Charleston Place for a relaxing weekend away. Everything, beginning to end, was perfect! The staff was engaging and helpful, and our king room was sunny, clean and very comfortable. We were just down the hall from the spa/health facilities. We did use the exercise equipment once but wish we had brought our bathing […] suits to enjoy the heated salt-water pool which was beautiful and open to all guests, not just those of the spa. I can't say enough about the location of the hotel. We have stayed at a handful of different hotels in the area and this was by far the best and most central spot. The hotel was very nice, but caters to the more wealthy traveler. It seems to have a lot of business clientele, people who are not paying for their rooms so they do not care what it costs. The room did have a luxurious king bed, but no fridge and the TV was quite small. The location of the hotel in downtown Charleston was fine, one block away from King […] Street shopping, but the stores in the hotel were very upscale. A cup of coffee in the morning was $3.00 and a a breakfast with just three pancakes was over $20.00. The amenities(candy, water and soda) left in the room amounted to more than $75.00 and was probably worth $ 10.00 at the most. (Bottled water was $3.00 each.) You have to pay $14.00 to park each day, even though you are paying over $300.00 a day for the room. You think the hotel could comp the parking!!!! Some times in life you have to experience something just once. This was one of those times. Next time I'll stay a few miles out of town and spend the $$$ on other things. Continua a leggere

THE LOBBY OF THIS HOTEL IS VERY ATTRACTIVE. THE ROOMS ARE NICE, BUT NOT EXCEPTIONAL. SEVEN OF US STAYED AT THE HOTAL AND ALL OF US FELT EVERYTHING IN THE HOTEL WAS EXTREMELY OVER PRICED. DINNER IN THE CHARLESTON GRILL WAS GOOD, BUT NOTHING SPECIAL. BREAKFAST WAS FINE, BUT I HAVE HAD BETTER EGGS BENEDICT FOR UNDER $23 IN THE MORING WE DISCOVERED THEY […] EVEN CHARGE FOR COFFEE IN THE LOBBY. There is no free coffee in the lobby in the morning. There is no coffee pot in the room. There is no free breakfast. The grill is very expensive for breakfast and dinner. The regular breakfast room was closed for renovation.

We arrived at the hotel late in the evening and the service we received was exceptional! It was our 1st Anniversary and we combined our pleasure trip with business. We were greeted by a friendly valet who inquired about our travel and took a special interest in why we were visiting. Our Reservationist asked what we were interested in doing while at […] the hotel. Since I am training for a Half Marathon, I asked about the "Bridge" and she was able to provide a card that gave explicit directions and mileage for the hike! We upgraded to the club level. Room small but clean. Air Conditioning didn't get room cool enough. Room service staff were very nice and quick but food wasn't worth the high cost. Difficult to find front on hotel and parking was expensive. Some sort of construction or room repair began at 8am. Had to call front desk.

Stayed with my sweetie for 4 nights Christmas week. Very comfortable rooms - we stayed on the 5th floor. The location could not have been better for shopping and sightseeing - both right outside the door, including the City's local crafts market is literally outside the door. Gucci, Louis Vuitton and the finer shops are all right inside the Charleston […] Place shopping area. Food and ambiance are terrific.
