"Nice view but..."
The staff was friendly, the lobby, beach and pool were clean and well maintained. It's a low key atmosphere, a number of families were staying there. The surrounding area is filled with restaurants and bars which was a bit noisy late at nite (3am) on Friday night. The biggest problem was that our room wasn't very accommodating. It needed a fresh coat […] of paint and it had a horrible musty odor. And there was no shower pressure which I'm not sure if that's because we were on the 8th floor or because there's a problem with the shower. All in all the bad outweighed the good. Continua a leggere
Most friendly staff of any hotel I've ever stayed at. Rooms clean and nice. Views of ocean excellent. Beach kept very clean. Very dog friendly with minor fee. Restaurant a little pricey.

We enjoyed our stay at the Tides Folly Beach so much. The hotel was nice and the employees were excellent. Everyone was so nice and helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
we had a lovely time all the staff were great... the only problem was the slowness of the elevator... and on top of that you had staff using it as the service elevator.. we did inform staff of the problem with the bed... bed frame was larger than the mattress so we kept hitting our ankles on the metal frame which was sticking out ... but having said […] that we had a wonderful time everyone was so nice... thank you for a wonderful day at the beach Continua a leggere

"Hotel In Tides Folly"
We enjoyed the third leg of our trip at this hotel. Unfortunately it was Spring Break so there was that element but overall it was fun. It is extremely convenient for dining and the beach. The staff was extremely friendly.

The Tides Hotel was a great choice for our family. Right on the beach. The pool and patio area were very impressive. The hotel lobby was way cool - boutique hotel feel. Great friendly staff. Superb location - we walked to restaurants and shopping.

"Great stay"
My wife and I stayed here for one night. We loved it. It was convenient to several great restaraunts and bars. The view and sound of the ocean makes this hotel worth the time.

was pleasantly surprised with surface attractiveness of room, lobby, pool area, etc. BUT, my room had a very odd smell to it which probably relates to very old heat/cool system. [remodel job apparently didn't include this] Also, phone didn't work and bedside lamp had to be unplugged to turn off since switch was missing. "Tides Folly Beach - All in all, very pleased!"
Our experience at Tides Folly Beach was overall very pleasant. Upon checking in at the front desk with an awesome guy, Matt, we were instantly impressed with the atmosphere and the service. We got to our room, on the 5th floor and were also very pleased. Very clean, modern decor, and a view that directly lined up with the pier and took our breath away. […] However, not too long after, we realized we were next door to a couple who was drunk and loud and rude. Upon returning that evening from site seeing, we poured a drink and sat back to relax. And the door slamming and yelling next door continued. They were so drunk, they even tried knocking and entering our room a couple times. Around midnight, another knock at the door revealed a very nice hotel security guard who was investigating, get this, a report made about US being too loud. And guess who called it in? Our lovely neighbors! He apologized right away once we had explained the story to him and told us he stood outside for a while before he knocked and didn't hear a peep from us. After he left, we went down to the beach for a while and then came back to our room to go to bed. Our darling neighbors had passed out and all was quiet next door... Except for the ridiculously loud snoring that made my brain rattle. And it continued all night. Guess who didn't sleep all night? The next morning I went to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager. I believe her name was Susan, and upon explaining what we had been through on our first night, she immediately refunded the entire purchase amount for both nights, as well as giving us certificates to their amazingly tummy in-hotel restaurant, Blu. The rest of our stay was perfect. The staff was so friendly and helpful without being fake like most of them can be at nice hotels. The food was phenomenal. The view and the beach was amazing. The awesome decor and color changing lobby was so cool! We can't stress enough how cool the environment was. All and all, we would rate this Continua a leggere

"Perfect but too expensive"
I have been enjoying this wonderful hotel since it was built almost 20 years ago. It has gone from affordable to luxury and that's unfortunate. I can only go now off-season and when there's a special sale. Compare to Myrtle where quality hotels are half the price.

We were pleasantly suprized at the upscale appearance and condition of the hotel. The resturant was excellent.. The beachfront was nice.

The hotel itself was great but the dining was excellent. We had most of our meals there. The selection was great and the freshness of the local produce was very tasty. The chef was very creative. "ruined anniversary"
To start off with, the rooms are a lot smaller than the pictures make them seem. There's also a door to the next room that we were not aware of when we booked our stay. We could hear every single thing that was being said in the next room. To make matters worse any time someone opened or closed their door, we hear it... very loudly, so it was extremely […] difficult to sleep at all. My husband and I stayed on the 9th floor and were awoken at 7 am by about 20 birds standing on the railing of our balcony which by the way was completely covered with bird poo. We couldnt open our balcony door to enjoy the ocean because we would risk birds flying in (which kind of defeated the purpose of paying more for an ocean front room). Our second day there we ordered breakfast room service which didn't show up for about 40 minutes and part of the order was forgotten. That afternoon we left the hotel and put out the maid service please sign. we were gone for about 8 hours and when we came back the tray from breakfast was still there, the bed wasn't made, no fresh towels, and the trash wasn't emptied. We contacted the front desk and waited about 30 minutes and no one came up. We walked to the front and the guy working was very nice and apologetic about everything (this was the ONLY good thing about this visit.). He quickly got someone to come service the room. Overall this was not worth the amount of money we spent for this place and it was a huge disappointment as far as thinking we were going to stay somewhere nice for our first wedding anniversary. "Great, but don't check out late!!"
This hotel was perfect! We walked to bars in the area and ate great food. HOWEVER!! We checked out an hour late on a Sunday and they charged my card $20. Not cool. There are 10 bars and restaurants in the area; it's only natural it takes a little longer than usual to get up in the morning. Oh, and they BLASTED music from the pool area starting at 10 […] am. It was a very nice stay. The view of the beach & pier was fantastic. Loved running on the beach with my dogs. Just park your car in the lot & everything (shops & resturants within walking distance. Great seafood & friendly people! Loved it.

My girlfriend and I went during the off-season for her birthday weekend, so the price was great as the 6th floor oceanfront view is indeed a great view and the location was great for beach access, and there were some local shops and restaurants were nearby. That's really the primary value in this hotel, its closeness to everything you might want to […] see, 1 minute to the beach, 10 minutes to downtown Charleston, minutes to restaurants. The only real "complaint" is the lack of anything remarkable about the hotel itself. There was no "wow" factor when first entering the hotel or the room. I liked the price, but would've liked a little something special with the hotel itself. Summary of things I notice when going to a hotel: - rooms were acceptable - the ceilings felt low and made the room seem small - the decor was uninspired - TV was fine, not lots of channels, not HD - the balcony was sufficient - no microwave - had a fridge - towels seemed clean but weren't very soft - shower water pressure was about 75% of what i would've preferred - close to the beach - close to a pier you can walk out on - hotel restaurant was down stairs (didn't eat there). Overall, if you want to get to Folly Beach and/or Charleston, this isn't a bad deal, don't expect to be wowed by hotel itself, everything you need, but nothing delightful you aren't expecting. "quaint beach town with great hotel location"
Great location right on the beach and all rooms are oceanfront. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Very quiet considering the location. Wonderful reception at check-in; very helpful clerk. Room was musty at check-in but resolved with turning on the air conditioner. Vent in bathroom did not work.

"Holiday Reality Break"
I booked special off-season rates for three rooms and was, overall, pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the front desk folks friendly and professional, the ambiance relaxed and tropical, and the beach view a very welcomed change of pace. The one complaint I had was that the young housekeeping staff was loud and a bit intrusive […] earlier in the mornings than a leisurely beach bum like myself might care to deal with. They yelled back and forth at great distances as they worked and they banged on my door even though the DO NOT DISTURB sign was hanging outside. I loved staying at the Tides! The staff were so nice and helpful. The view was spectacular! The only negative thing I can say is the heater in the room is so loud u can't hear the tv. Definitely will be back to stay!

We spend Christmas night at the Tides; what a lovely setting for holiday peace. We dined in the Restaurant Blue; very good menu, food, and service. The hotel's location was perfect....within walking distance of restaurants and bars. Nice ocean front room. The main complaint I had with it was it is a pet friendly hotel. There was a definite "dog odor" in the room, and the carpet was stained in numerous places. You could hear dogs barking in the rooms. We are not dog people so it was it was a bit […] offensive. We stayed during the Christmas holiday, the entire staff was happy and helpful. We were greated with a very pleasant staff which surprised us due to they were working Christmas Eve and .Christmas Day. The restaurant staff was just as happy and pleasant. "Tides Hotel..Business trip turned to Pleasure!"
Second monthly trip to Tides Hotel. While our room was in need of maintenance (leak in bathroom, broken drain plug, forgotten maid service) we were greeted by Jay, who was very accomodating, asked me several times if I needed anything when I was at the pool or in the lobby...cudos to Jay...he made us feel welcome! Food is quite good, invited friends […] & relatives to join us & they thought the same. The "Blu" staff are "green" (took 3 people to order a lunch to go...couln't figure out how to order on computer) however lunch was enjoyable. The view here is why we come...walking on the beach worth small inconveniences. We will continue to stay at Tides on our monthly business trips to Charleston area. Continua a leggere
"Pre Holiday Splurge"
The entranceway was pretty and not overdone w/ too much beach theme. Reception staff was behind the curtains and had to walk around to get attention. Matt was extremeley pleasant and very smiley , and door staff inquired if I would need help w/ my bags. Room was gorgeous w/ amazing view of Folly and the Pier. Amenities in bathroom were better quality […] than I expected , but the hairdryer fell off the wall when we tried to remove it from it's cradle. Housekeeping staff knocked gently on the door at 10:10 am , even though check out time is clearly stated to be at 11 am? They entered the room w/o announcing so? A bit taken a back by that ? Overall, I would stay there again if I needed to recommend nice hotel on the beach.
