ottima posizione per chi arriva in treno,comodissimo per raggiungere le principali attrazioni di Firenze. Stanza con poca luce, colazione buona.

Buon rapporto prezzo/hotel, Ideale per chi piace avere qualche pezzo di design intorno, anche se ci si trova al centro di Firenze. Silenzioso e confortevole. Piccola nota: c'e' il latte e il caffe' nel breakfast ma non la macchina per l'espresso o cappuccino.

I stayed at Hotel Universo twice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It is an older building and the rooms are cramped but usable and the elevator is tiny . In one of my rooms the shower door opened only about 14 inches so an obese person would never be able to get in there but it was fine in the second room. Room was clean and well equipped […] and hotel had a very good continental breakfast. Located right near the train station and within easy walking distance to all the major sights in Florence. My biggest complaint was the extra fee for Wi-Fi use which only works in the lobby. There are numerous restaurants near the hotel that provide free Wi-Fi so it is ridiculous for this hotel to charge extra when we are spending hundreds of Euros on this room. Continua a leggere

I spent two days at Universo with my fiancee and my mother, and we liked very much. The room was big, with two single beds and one double bed and it was very confortable and very clean. We booked 5 nights stay in the same hotel. After we checked in, we found our room was very dark, no ceiling light and the window was facing the wall. We immediately requested to change the room since we have to stay 5 nights there. The first staff, a lady, told us that we have to pay extra eur30 per day more to change a room with view. Her manner was […] very bad and said that our paid room rate was just for a standard room and should without view. We said that we were not asked for the room with view but just not facing a wall since the room was very dark. She then claimed that the hotel was full. Since the room was really dark that we even could not read our guide book, we talked to the staff, a man this time. He promised to change the room for us without extra charge day after tomorrow. But indeed, he did not leave any message to his colleague. So, when we talked to the lady staff next day for the time we changing the room, she again said that we need to pay extra eur30 per day and said that her man colleague has no authority to promise us there was no extra charge. Again, her manner was very bad and said that we already had the best room. Finally, we have to stay in the dark room for 5 nights. Continua a leggere

I booked this hotel after seeing it had mostly positive reviews. It was cheap and in a good location. Breakfast was included and it was good. But my spouse and I didnt enjoy our stay. The decor is obnoxius (i'm talking about neon colors all over) it seems to be a way to hide the conditions of the building which is obvioukay really old and falling appart. […] But the decor wouldnt be so bothersome if the room wasnt so dark and dingy. You would think that if a room didnt get naturallight it would be supplemented with artificial light, but the three tiny lamps in the room combined were about as bright as a single candle. To top it off the walls are beyond paper thin. Sometimes it sounds like people are standing over your bed. Then there was the smell of mold which my spouse couldnt smell but kept me up the first night (until I started leavin the windows open and dealing with the extra noises that allowed). Overall I wouldnt recomend this hotel. It put us in a bad mood for our entire stay. If you can, spend a little extra and stay somewhere that will put you in the mood to enjoy florence! Room 23 is very poor with quite small balneal space. and the room is quite small. Sunshine is difficult to enter to the room. But the staff service of the front desk is good.

The staff was very helpful in scheduling a tour of Tuscany with a tour group. They spoke english well and the room was clean. Located about five minutes walk from main train station.

This hotel is fine if you are on a budget but be forewarned that a lot of kids choose this hotel for the price and location to the train station, making it very noisy from 2-4 am when they all come home from the bars. The Square is very noisy with either drunks or the 10,000 chirping birds that sit in the trees outside the hotel windows. We asked to […] be moved and it wasn't a problem, thank goodness. It was very close to most places that you must visit in Firenze. The staff was extremely helpful and the vending machine there sells water for a cheaper price than outside! Definitely staying there again if I am going back to Firenze.

The hotel we booked was "NON SMOKING" and paid more for having a view of the square. But was given a room that reeks of smoke. We spoke to the reception "A plumpish lady" for a change, her reply was; "IMPOSSIBLE, we are a non-smoking hotel" with a nonchalant attitude. She gave us a room on the 2nd floor facing a wall which I rejected after seeing the […] room. After which I reluctantly ask back for the smokey room, to which she replied; "Can you make up your mind, I cannot keep changing room". After this incident, our next 2 days stay was met with a cold shoulder as each time we passed by the reception, she will look in the opposite direction. Great location, clean room, good breakfast.the only bad thing "bad Shower Head in the bathroom"

This is a very conveniently located hotel. Very little assistance available at the desk. Our room, #56 was exceptional as it had a balcony overlooking the Santa Maria Novella cloisters and piazza--spectacular!

Just updated. Cool and funky rooms. Clean and just minutes from the terminal. Good free breakfast.

Great location near the train station, great pizzeria next door, and the best front office guy in Italy in Tony. Room we stayed in was large, but required either a walk-up or walk-down from the elevators. Dingiest staircase & room lighting (felt like 5-watt bulbs throughout). Shower area was large but didnt even have a place to keep the bath gel, shampoo […] etc...and it was not a great experience. Breakfast area was decent and modern looking in contrast. Will recommend to those that need to stay near the Stazione and for Tony's charm. Continua a leggere

I liked the hotel a lot. Great central location. The front desk was extremely friendly and nice to me and my twin daughters. The room was really nice, decorated like the W and the sheets were exceptionally soft and comfy for Europe (beds are usually firm and uncomfortable). Breakfast was also great. I do have one complaint -- no free WiFi, they charge […] for it! This is ridiculous since almost all of our other hotels had free WiFi in the lobby. I'd give this place 5 stars if they had free WiFi. Hotel Universo is great for couples traveling on somewhat of a budget. It was very affordable for what it offered, which was location, cleanliness, comfort and friendly staff. The room is a bit small and kind of dark with not much natural light. The bathroom was more than sufficient and the shower had great water pressure! We had some difficulty finding the place due to a mis-direction from the Florence info desk. Once we got there, we were very impressed with the Square on which the hotel was located. Right next to a beautiful Catholic Church and with a fountain in the large courtyard. Unfortunately the interior decorator must have finished his work in about 1985--the […] wallpaper was vintage black and white swirls--very gosh! Once we got over the humor of that, the service was fine. We enjoyed the breakfasts, especially the good juice machine. Our son joined us in Florence and the management would not let us allow him to sleep on a cot in our room for one night, even though we would have paid extra. We had to engage a separate hotel for him, with an extra check in, expense of a full room and meeting up the next day. We would have appreciated a more flexible policy. A very good base of operations to see the popular sites of Florence--we were able to walk to all of them with no difficulty. Continua a leggere

We were delighted to find Hotel Universo so well-placed. Very convenient location in regard to the station and other transport. Within walking distance of all key sites. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Excellent (continental) breakfast and relatively spacious rooms in. We were there in peak summer and the room's air conditioner was just managing […] to take the edge off the heat. Friends in another room had a slightly more efficient AC. This was a good hotel if you are just looking for something clean and economic. The best feature of the hotel is the location. It is a block from Santa Maria Novella train station and right on Piazza Santa maria novella. It has free continental breakfast which is a plus considering how expensive is to eat in italy. Easily walkable from train station (200 yards). Very clean and well kept! Fantastic location on one of the nicest plazas with lots of social activities and people watching. The view out our window t the plaza was same view as the first picture of the Florance section of the Lonely Planet travel guide. Many food choices nearby and most historical sites […] a short walk away. A fantastic breakfast service! Computers with internet use available for a fee. Very accommodating, clean, and comfortable. Only downside was no wireless internet, had to pay and use a computer room. Other than that, it was a great stay.

Stayed here for an afternoon before flying out of Florence. My flight was early the next morning, and I thought about getting a hotel nearer the airport. So glad I didn't do that. This place is ideally located for walking all over Florence. An airport hotel would have been a big bore or a few expensive cab rides. The manager spoke English and arranged […] my cab to the airport the night before. Truly, my flight left at 7 a.m., and I left the hotel at 5:15, arriving at the airport by 5:25. Don't let the short distance scare you. Admittedly, my single room was small and lacked a view. Yet, it had a small terrace and was perfect for my needs. Very short walk from the SMN train station, located on the Santa Maria Novella plaza, so you hear the church bells in the morning but have a great view of the plaza (not the church). The hotel decor is funky in terms of colors but the breakfast and internet area as well as the room itself are very nice. The only issue I had was that the shower water […] was slow to drain. The room was spacious, TV, fridge present. No safe but could leave items in the downstairs safe. The internet was for a charge, 5 euros for 1 hr, 3 for 30 min but they still made it 45 min. The front dest staff was very freindly, helped us figure out buses and called to check on tickets for a show. Complimentary breakfast was pretty good as well. And we were able to leave our luggage with the hotel even after we checked out until the evening. Continua a leggere

Excellent location that is strategically located close to the train station and the major sights in Florence. Had a room facing the square and it was quite nice. Room was small but bearable. breakfast was forgettable.

The Hotel was in easy walking distance to the station. It is centrally located to the Duomo and other sites and the markets. Breakfast was basic . The restraurant next door had great woodfired Pizza's.

Upon arrival we were impressed with the location...then we were told we were moved to the hotel next door. Our superior double became two single beds end to end with barely enough room to move past the beds. Our window did not close and it was just above the outdoor bar. well located and convenient to major attractions friendly and competent staff good value

Only about 300 metres from the train station. Situated in a lovely area overlooking green grass, a church and the hospital is close by. Only 10mins to 15mins walk to popular shopping areas and tourist sites.

Emplacement trés bien, chambres très bonnes, petit dèj. simpatique,personnel super sympa, petit problèmed' isolation phonique pas terrible.

O fato de o Hotel estar perto da estação gerou vantagens e desvantagens. O principal ponto positivo é que dava pra ir e voltar a pé da estação e dos principais pontos turísticos - Duomo e Piazza della Segnhoria. Também tem dois ótimos restaurantes vizinhos ao hotel! Porém, o Hotel Universo não tem tratamento acústico bom o suficiente para abafar o […] barulho exterior. E a Piazza Santa Maria Novella, por estar próxima à estação, é bem movimentada. Sempre tem gente conversando, fazendo barulho, fazendo música, tudo embaixo da sua janela - geralmente, à noite!!! Além disso, no Hotels.com diz que há internet no Hotel, mas não diz que ela deve ser paga. Por outro lado, o staff é ótimo, gentil, educado. Pode pedir dicas de lugar pra comprar algum produto ou sobre passeios e pontos turísticos. Todos atendem bem, de forma simpática, e todos falam inglês, francês e espanhol. Continua a leggere

O hotel tem uma otima localização porem os quaartos são muito escuros, o box do banheiro minúsculos onde nem tem apoio para colocar sabonete, shampoo. Muitos mosquitos no quarto, alem de nao manter o ar ligado, forçando a abrir a janela e ter que ouvir todo o barulho externo das ruas. Все весьма удобно. Пешком до всех достопримечательностей. В трех минутах паркинг, вокзал (кому нужно). Супермаркет Comand. Отзывчивый, милый персонал. Чисто в номере, правда оставались только одну ночь. Хороший завтрак. Оригинальный интерьер. В следующий мой визит во Флоренцию - только туда)))
