I really enjoyed the hotel's relative proximity to the train station and the city centre. It is very convenient for those who have to walk a lot, because one can enjoy a nice stroll on the Lungarno which can be both efficient AND romantic. The rooms are relatively comfortable: I would have appreciated a couple of extra pillows, and a few extra degrees […] in the bathroom (which was quite cold in the morning). Tidiness and cleanliness are by all means the strongest point of the hotel. Bathroom, towels, linen were impeccably clean. As for the food, quality could have been better: the selection is very simple (yogurt, corn flakes, muesli, plain bread), and lacks freshly-baked goods and selection. The whole establishment needs some renovation, but if you're not too picky and care about location, quietness, and cleanliness, "Residence Il Maggio" is an excellent option. Continua a leggere

Il personale è molto cortese e disponibile. Peccato per gli ambienti che sembrano un po' datati e trascurati. La nostra stanza era illuminata solo da un lucernario, che si affaccia su un cortile interno, e quindi era sprovvista di una finestra vera e propria; fortunatamente la camera era dotata di aria condizionata.

È un piccolo B&B a gestione famigliare, la stanza e il bagno erano spaziose. Camera pulita, personale cordiale e disponibile. Il quartiere è residenziale, ci sono alberghi e uffici, pochi negozi. Facilmente raggiungibile dall'autostrada (in pratica sempre dritto), è all'interno della zona a traffico limitato, il parcheggio in Piazza Vittorio Veneto […] è caro (agosto 2011), perché è pensato per soste brevi. Si consiglia di andare in treno, altrimenti per la macchina è possibile avere indicazioni dal proprietario.. A piedi sul lungarno sono 15 min dal ponte vecchio e 10 min dalla stazione, 20 da Santa Maria del Fiore (duomo). È possibile prendere anche la nuova tramvia a 5 min a piedi dall'albergo e arrivare alla stazione di Santa Maria Novella e poi da lì in centro, oppure viceversa se si arriva con le valige può essere comoda per raggiungere l'albergo. Colazione buona, aria condizionata, free wireless. Avevamo necessità di doppie chiavi e ci sono venuti in contro. Unico neo: due rampe di scale per accedere e il personale non sempre presente. La sistemazione è in posizione molto tranquilla e permette un buon riposo dopo una giornata di visite intense. Camera veramente confortevole; i gestori sono cortesi e non invadenti.

We stayed a few nights. The rooms were OK but the service was lacking. There is only someone there in the morning and she wasn't very friendly. Some of the dooms don't have external windows. Breakfast was below average. Good place only if you want no frills and just a cheap-ish bedroom.

Good location. Quiet zone. But this means no taxi access. Not a long walk to anywhere you need to get too. No lift- and 2 big flights of steps- no big luggage! Very Big room. Very good breakfast. The B&B was located fairly close to the railway station and impressively close to the river. It turned out the US embassy was close by so the area was quiet and safe. On arrival there was a note on the door saying they were out however they had left the key and code for the door - a sure sign the area was safe - and we didn't see them until morning […] as we returned late. The room was really nice and the whole place had a lovely feel to it, definitely more B&B than hotel. Breakfast was good and overall we really enjoyed our stay. I found a note and a key stuck to the main door when i reached the hotel. I realized, there was no resident management on this b&b. The stairway was pitch dark to navigate and in plain simple terms, my start to florence vacation was dreadful. The internet seems to be shared with too many guests so expect speeds from stone age. Final nail in the coffi. […] Was the breakfast, with few slices of dry and thin bread, i prefered to spend money and buy my breakfast. Let me say, my friends and I really enjoyed our experience at Residenza Il Maggio. Both the room and the bathroom were very clean. The breakfast was fine for me, there was a variety of cereals, bread and jam, fruit, and yogurt. We arrived in the afternoon, when there was no staff, but they left instructions to get in that I found easy to follow. That […] might bother some people, but I really didn't mind at all. If you think you wouldn't like that, arrive before 4 or 5. The location was very quiet, and, since it's right by the American consulate, you can feel relatively safe walking back at night since there are police/soldiers on every corner. LOCATION was good if you could walk alot and do steps. Lot of convenience nearby. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. We wanted more pillows and got them. Our complaint would be our housekeeping for the second day. When we returned from our day we only had 2 towels instead of 4 when we checked in and toilet paper not replaced. Had to get that the […] next morning. No one at the desk to get 2 more. We could have called but didn't have a connection from the phone and we don't travel with cell phones. The TV was difficult to work and limited channels. Could not find even one in English. I would recommend this b&b to anyone going to Florence. It is 1 minute walk to the river, at which you can take a leisurely stroll down the river towards Ponte Vecchio. It is within walking distance to all the main sights and is in a very quiet part of town being close to the American Consulate. hands down the best hotel experience we had in Italy. quiet street. friendly staff. couldn't get the AC to work, but i didn't bother to ask, since the temp was good. the window was open, so there were a few mosquitos, but not too bad. also, the tv was a little small, but we weren't there to watch TV! the breakfast was the best anywhere we'd been on […] our trip. everyone else seemed to skimp, but here they had everything we needed. this will be where we stay any time we return to Florence. Excellent location! Impecable cleaness. Very good meal at the Trattoria Vitoria nearby. Easy parking nearby (free at night and Sundays). The manager Albina is a service oriented person and speaks very good English. Well worth the price as well the good comments placed by other travelers.

Very friendly hosts in a quiet area near the river and 15-20 min walk with luggage from train station. Access is by way of stairs. Excellent breakfast provided. Firm but comfortable bed.

This place was very nice for the price although I was told I could have found something closer to more sites for around the same price. Regardless, I enjoyed my stay. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. There was free Wi-Fi but I did not have my computer and my phone did not work. The staff let me use their phone and their computer... very nice […] of them. It is around the corner from the US consulate so there is no traffic which makes for quiet evenings. Felt very safe in the area as well, as the consulate had guards posted around the area. This hotel was in a great neighborhood, and easy to walk to from the train station. Roberto, the manager, was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was nice. I would definately recommend this hotel, and would stay here again when in Florence.

This was a small but adequate room with a small but adequate modern private bath. It was very clean. It's located near the American Consulate and the street is blocked off to motor vehicles. Therefore! - No noisy car traffic all night long. It's near the river, and an easy walk of less than a mile will get you to the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi, or Santa […] Maria Novella Station. The staff was great - very helpful. A very nice breakfast was served in the morning. (On some days we would have liked it a little earlier) There was fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, jam, and a selection of cereals with wonderful fresh-brewed Italian coffee! The rooms are not air conditioned, which was no problem at all in late September. And it's only a few blocks from Trattoria Armando, where you can get great Tuscan food at a reasonable price. Das Zimmer war sehr klein (man konnte kaum aneinander vorbeigehen) und das Bett so hart, dass man auch auf dem Boden hätte schlafen können. Das Frühstückk hätte man sich sparen können, wir sind dann auch woanders frühstücken gegangen...allein, dass man in einem Land mit einer Kaffeekultur wie Italien zum Frühstück einen Instant-Kaffee serviert bekommt, […] paßt unserer Meinung nach nicht. Lindo hotel del tipo ochentoso ubicado en Lido a 10 minutos de Venecia por vaporeto. El precio tal vez sea un poco excesivo al servicio brindado. El desayuno es muy completo aunque cobran algunas cosas, si alguien entiende porque cobran los huevos que me lo haga saber.

Qdo vc chega no hotel e entrada por ser fechado cheira muito mofo e o pior desses hoteis em Florença é que diz que tem estacionamento c/sobretaxa mas na verdade nem tem e tem que deixar na rua c/ parcometro fica muito caro.Mas a dona é muito simpatica.

Accueil sympa avec de nombreuses infos sur la ville et un plan offert, un bon B&B à deux pas des lieux majeurs de Florence. Attention, hôtel situé en zone à trafic limité donc accessible en auto seulement pour décharger les bagages (donnez votre plaque d'immatriculation à l'accueil de l’hôtel pour éviter les problèmes).
