This hotel is nice, however the bathroom in our room smelled a little rank, in the toilet room. It was tricky figuring out how to catch the shuttle back and forth to self parking. I came back late at night to find no shuttle in the lot, so I called front desk and the concierge; no answer. I had to drive up to the hotel and ask the guy there to send […] it down. We had an amazing time at the El Conquistador Resort. It is very kid friendly with many activities to keep them busy. If you want the resort to take care of your kid for the whole day it will cost much extra. The waterpark (additional fee) was awesome as was the private island. I loved the private island. The ferry is convenient and the beach is beautiful with plenty to do...snorkle, rent wave runners, etc. The resort itself offers a lot to do with several pools, shops and restaurants. The Marina restaurant, however, was the only good meal I got on property. The wraps for lunch were pretty disgusting. I got a fish wrap 1 day […] and it was all chopped up and mixed with beans. The rooms were clean but had very old carpet and smelled very musty. Our air conditioner leaked so we had to be careful not to slip on the puddles. We were with a group and had 5 rooms total and they all said the same thing about the musty smell and old carpet. Overall the beach and view were spectacular and the staff was relatively interested in good service but the musty rooms might deter me in the future. We had a nice time but the rooms were very outdated and not what I expected for a Waldorf property. There was no service at all by the pool. We have two children, age 6 and 3, and this was a great place for them. So many things to do. Water park and Palomino Island perfect for them, and convenient because you don't have to lug around towels, beach chairs, etc. Though there are many different options for food, we always ate at the casual places. Prices for food extremely overpriced for what […] you get. The room did have a fridge so with better pre-planning we could have eaten breakfast and lunch in the room. No microwave. We stayed near the Coqui Waterpark and it was very nice because you didn't have to go all the way up the vernacular and multiple elevators to get to the activities (the boat to the island and the waterpark). My wife ran conferences here in the mid-90's and wanted to return for a long time, so took the family. Hotel is VERY tired and needs basic up-dating. Plastic couches in rooms not so nice, A/C that barely worked, and friendly service, but very SLOW especially at restaurants that basically are microwaving the lunch ! This hotel is exception in terms of its location as a get-away. There is not much to do (that we saw) in Fajardo itself, but in our opinion, one would not go to this hotel to be "off the grounds". The hotel, resort, and Palamino Island are far too exquisite to worry about going elsewhere! The hotel staff was excellent; they let us check in at 10:00 […] a.m. and check out at 12:00! My husband and I stayed at El Conquistador for a wedding anniversary trip and had a great time! The pool, the beach, the food... everything was amazing! We loved the coziness and romantic feel to the resort for a nice couples getaway, but we also loved that it offered a family oriented enviroment as well! The hotel has apparently chosen to rest on its lush grounds and private island with its beautiful beaches. No doubt, that part is great and will be enough to impress travelers. However, it is unclear how this hotel currently qualifies as a 4-5 star hotel. My spacious room was disappointing. Mold/mildew in the closet, grimy tile grout, peeling veneer […] on furniture, obviously chipped glasses, etc. It took multiple calls to get electronics repaired and trash from the previous guest removed. The voice mail system was never reset from the previous guest so those personal messages were waiting for me. The main pool area is large and there is plenty of comfortable lounge chairs. Despite being told that there was waitstaff circulating the pool area for food/drink orders, I never saw such staff (not even at peak lunch time) so guests were left to self-order from the bar. Again, not a big deal if the hotel were advertised with a lower-rating, but that is not 4-5 star service. For those who have a late-day flight, there are no locker rooms/indoor showers available (again, strange for this supposed level of hotel). According to the front desk, one can use the spa's accommodations for another surcharge. On a bright note, the grounds are beautiful (glad it didn't rain), the ferry service to the island is prompt and convenient, the staff in the restaurants were professional, and the on-site dive shop is good. Would I recommend this hotel? Depends on the person's expectations. Continua a leggere

A great time and the private island was a great getaway. We were very excited to do the bioluminescent bay kayak tour and we did sign up. When we got to the middle of the bay, they told us how all the conditions (full moon, low tide, etc, etc) were wrong to get to see them. El Conquistador has seen better days but I still like the hotel. The hotel needs a face lift and the casino no longer exists. I have never stayed in the main hotel, I prefer the rooms at the marina. The resort fee seems a bit excessive and the daily parking fee is just plain crazy. The hotel staff are all very pleasant and accommodating. Our rooms were […] clean but in a seven day stay our room was cleaned just three times. On the days that we didn't see housekeeping we had asked them to come back later as we were not ready to leave the room at 9:00 am. They never came back later in the day even though we were gone all day. Consequently we never had a sheet change which really is not a big deal except for the fact that the rooms are really expensive and one would expect better service. Golf is very, very expensive here even for a resort course. We paid over $700 dollars to play 2 rounds of golf for two. The course is difficult but fun. Continua a leggere

You can tell that this venerable resort has been around a while and has fallen from a playground for the rich and famous to a decent place for regular folks, albeit at at high price point. Food was not great for the prices but service was excellent in all cases.

The food was terrible and way overpriced. Also, the daily "resort fee" is indefensible. With a high fee like that the place and service should be impeccable, however, it was not. Although I would not return, the hotel itself is beautiful to look at and the private island and views were beautiful.

This was probably a great resort 20 or 30 years ago, but the age shows as renovations do not appear to have been comprehensive throughout the corridors and exteriors of the hotel. We are definitely not picky, but for the price we expected a little more than we got.

Old and outdated and filthy rooms, and clogged bath tubs and poor service is the standard in this hotel. Barely edible food in the restaurants is priced as high as the best restaurants in New York. I had to ask three times and wait 30 minutes and complain to the manager to get a glass of water,and the waiter's excuse was that they did not have any clean […] glasses. Blossom , their fancy Asian restaurant served us tasteless vegetarian dishes and smelly old seafood. We decided to forego a fully prepaid stay and cut our vacation short and the front desk said that there is a 75$ surcharge for leaving early., eventhough we were forfeiting our payments. After arguing with the manager, he agreed not to charge us the fee. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THIS FANCY MOTEL.They should spend some of that money to hire a real competent manager. The hotel setting is spectacular..they seem to be going thru some changes..do not get the food plan we went to outside restaurants (La Estacion, Pasion, De Yuka. The hotel takes advantage of a captive audience by charging obscene prices for food, taxi etc... to the point of feeling taken advantage of. The location is spectacular, but the Waldorf has let this property go down hill for lack of maintenance. In addition there were never enough towels (they knew there were four of us in the room) not enough coffee, no corkscrew and to get a wine glass takes a visit to the general manager. Very expensive for a mediocre experience. Granted it was over Christmas, […] but the Ritz and the Marriott do a better job in all respects. Wonderful staff. Hotel itself is relatively old but well kept. Many activities for kids. Everybody is helpful and tries to accommodate your needs. Make sure you visit Palomino Island which is the private beach for the hotel and it is free.

Staying at the conquistador was a great trip. Received lots of recommendations about this resort from people who have stayed there previously and they're right. We had an ocean view room and the view is breathtaking. Resort has its own private island, beautiful pools, and delicious restaurants with fresh food and good service. Breakfast buffet was delicious […] with good service (although a bit pricy). Concierge and front desk people were not very helpful, but service from everyone else was superb. Resort is much more family oriented now too - no more casino and a new water park. Really just go for a romantic getaway with breathtaking views. Will go again. Continua a leggere
