Recensito da un utente di Hotels.com in data 29 gen 2013Ottima la posizione, a pochi passi da Union Square e proprio di fronte a due importanti teatri. Le camere sono però piccole e in due si fa fatica a sistemare gli abiti se il soggiorno è lungo. Ottimo lo Starbucks la porta accanto.

Ottimo hotel situato nel centro di San Francisco, a due passi da market street da cui passano le principali linee di trasporto pubblico ed a due blocchi da Union Square con tutti i suoi negozi. "very good hotel, very good choice for a week"
I was in San Francisco for a conference and the Orchard Garden was a very good hotel choice. It is very well placed at the Chinatown gate, but well enough in the Financial District that you are close to most of S.F.'s attractions, as well as business buildings. A walk to Pier 39 is about 20 min from the hotel, and I was ok with that. Union Square is […] 5 min away if you want to shop, and if you want to dine outside the hotel, there are quite a number of places right in front the hotel, and in the area. The room was very nice and clean, bed sheets in perfect condition. The only problem was that it is a bit narrow at the entrance, and I would have liked some slippers from the hotel. The bathrooms are spacious and I appreciate that in a hotel, and sparkling clean every time. The wifi connection was for free. The staff was extremely helpful and I really have nothing to complain about, and I am usually picky. Breakfast was ok in the morning, with lots of coffee and a few choices in the express version, while if you want something fancier you can order on the spot and the prices are reasonable. Also, they serve good California wine in the evenings, apart from dinner, and that was also nice. We really liked the hotel. The location made it easy for us to walk or take one of the bus lines to everything we wished to do. Nice hotel, friendly staff, quiet location, comfortable room. If not for the toe nail and dead bug on the carpet when I walked in the room, I would have rated the cleanliness higher. The hotel was in an ideal location, at the entrance to Chinatown and very close to shopping at all the upscale stores and Union Square. We had a double/double on the street side. I had read reports that the street-side rooms were quite noisy, but we didn't have a problem sleeping, even though we were there on the weekend. The only extraordinary noise […] was a garbage truck early one morning. The room was more spacious than I expected and very comfortable. The one small criticism I have is that they should have instructions in the room as to how to use the DVD player. "Great Except..."
I had a generally great stay at Orchard Garden! Two issues I took with the place though: First, there was one woman at the desk who was rude both when I called to see if my room was ready for check-in and when I requested an extra half an hour for checkout due to a meeting that ran until the designated noon checkout time. She treated me like a child […] and was highly unpleasant. Second, the room was pretty small. Fine for one person, but quite cramped for two. Those aside, the rest of the staff was extremely accommodating and the room was clean and fresh. The location cannot be beat - a door down from Chinatown, great shopping, and a 10 minute walk to Washington Square Park. I'd stay again, especially if I didn't have to valet my car for $40/night! The restaurant, rooms, service and decor were all... ok. Nothing exciting, nothing special. It is LEED certified, which is why I stayed there. But it feels just barely LEED certified. The products are "eco" products, but not natural. The coffee is not fair trade nor organic. The restaurant and mini-bar snacks... are 1/2-way there. They don't live up […] to the name "Roots." "We all enjoyed our stay"
We were greated at the door by Victoria, and she was so very helpful and pleasant, she gave us an upgrade to get us checked in early, suggested a great place to eat and tips on Chinatown. Everyone we dealt with were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and I like that it is an ECO friendly hotel. Although we had read reviews saying it was noisy, […] we did not notice this at all. The location worked out very well for us, close to the cable cars and Market St. for other public transportation, made it easy to get to where we wanted to go without always taking a cab. Easy to find, next door to gate into China Town. I was given choice of quiet room on 3rd floor or near the elevator. I would have preferred a higher floor, but took the quiet room. It was quiet. The room was too small for 2 people. Had to practically turn sideways to walk between bed and dresser. Nice pleasing renovation. Excellent on several levels: location, room cleanliness, quality of staff, & price. The location is close to Union Square, Chinatown & the Financial District, which made a perfect choice for us. I was there for New Year’s. The Hotel staff was very helpful in all of our needs. Gave us directions and tips to where we wanted to go and suggested other great sightseeing places. Location of the hotel was just blocks from the shopping area. My only complaint is that there is low water pressure in the shower. The hotel staff was very helpful in helping us figure out the public transit system. Rooms were clean and rather large for San Francisco. The room had no street noise, which was great. "Nice hotel, nice location, friendly staff"
Everyone was very nice, friendly and professional. The bed was wonderful! I have two comments; the coffee maker and coffee in the room is dismal. I was unable to figure out how to work the machine and the coffee was weak and terrible. Coffee machines are typically relatively easy to operate. The 2nd comment is that the newspaper was at the front desk, […] not outside the door. However, because the coffee was so bad, I found myself going over to Starbuck's every morning and picking up the paper on the way back upstairs. Overall, however, a very pleasant experience. Very clean, quiet and nicely furnished. Our room was bright and spacious enough for 2. Staff was friendly and helpful. The complimentary toiletries were of very good quality. I liked the free WiFi. My bed was really very comfortable and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I never tried the food as there was too much choce on the doorstep.
