"OMG !! What a Hidden Gem !!"
The stay was AMAZING!! I was looking for a special place to celebrate my girlfriend's Birthday, and we have both always talked about staying in a Bed and Breakfast. We were sooooo fortunate to see this come up. The Owners were cordial,informed and made you feel like they have known you forever. The other plus is that I have always thought you would […] have to share the Bathroom with the other guests , but each room has it's own private Bathroom!! Nan is an awesome Hostess and very caring and you can see that she TRULY is a people person. Also, is it very nice to come down to have breakfast and interact with the other guests at the big family styled Breakfast!! Gerald pays EVERY attention to detail... The Biggest plus was that he took the time to call not long after I booked the Stay . He was asking when we could be expected and they were there waiting for us when we got there. This b&b was a wonderful find. The hosts are welcoming and knowledgeable about their historic house. We felt as if we were family friends from the first minute. "Great place for a nice retreat"
Loved the owners Gerald and Nan. They obviously take great pride in their business. Gerald was nice enough to take us kayaking even though it was raining out. He even waited while we decided whether we wanted to continue in the rain or not. They extended our check out time to 2:30p (from 11a) because we were out exploring the Blue Spring state park […] which is right next door. Breakfast was delicious and both Gerald and Nan joined us in a conversation about the history of the house. "Feel like family"
My husband and I went to blue springs state park on our honeymoon and we stayed at Alling House and we can't say enough about it!! Gerald and Nan went out of there way to make us comfortable! Every lovely thing that previous guests said in their earlier reviews of Alling House was true. The main house and cabins are totally charming, super clean and very comfortable. Gerald and Nan were very accommodating, including arranging to pick our son up at the airport and bringing homemade cinnamon muffins to our cabin in the afternoon. (Although […] my family had breakfast plans elsewhere each day, I would recommend to future guests that they make plans with Nan to have breakfast in the main dining room, based on how charming the dining room is and how good her muffins were.) The four of us really enjoyed sitting on the rockers on the cabin porch and listening to the song birds, too. The grounds are shady and charming. "Classic B & B"
This is an historic house important to the history of Orange City, FL. The owners have paid attention to history by outfitting the three rooms in the main house in the Victorian manner and have paid attention to 21st century byhaving a TV in each room, a common area with a desktop computer and printer available and a common refrigerator with sodas and […] ice cream for the guests. There are also five cottages, each with a different theme, which also come with the ammenities and a full kitchen and bath in each. The breakfasts were more than ample and included fresh fruit, main entree, etc. I had to switch to two meals per day because of the large breakfast which of course I had to eat! My wife and I stayed at Alling House while attending the 24 Hr race at Daytona Speedway. The accomodations were superb! The entire facility is quite lovely and beautiful. Decorated with antique furniture and accessories thru-out. The owner hosts were fantastic! Breakfast was delicious! We stayed in the Rose Room- so comfortable! I went here almost dreading what to expect, as well as my son. We were very pleasantly surprised. Only compliant is Wi-Fi sucked, but that's just being picky and we were informed prior that it would by owner. "B&B in East/Cen. Fla. - tucked away in quaint town"
SO many choices in rooms and private cottages! Owners truly treat you like visiting relatives or close friends. The resident kitty was a plus for us cat lovers. Each room had hundreds of little added details to make you feel as if you were staying at home and needed everything at your fingertips. One broken item was immediately reported & addressed […] and more comfortable pillows were in the closet that we missed (see, they think of everything). The only thing we didn't ask about was the prices paid for off season (thinking we were arriving still in season because of several local graduations in the area in May).
