Recensito da un utente di Hotels.com in data 25 feb 2013La posizione è stupenda in quanto si trova direttamente di fronte a Central Park. La nostra camera era veramente spaziosa. Per la colazione è meglio premurarsi che sia già pagata o meno altrimenti viene addebitata sulla camera e poi bisogna spiegare che era già pagata. Attenzione al frigo bar, ogni tanto caricano sul conto consumazioni non fatte. Nel nostro caso, dopo una breve spiegazione, hanno provveduto immediatamente a cancellarla dal conto finale e senza fare troppe storie. Il personale è stato gentile a parte qualche cameriere un po scorbutico durante la colazione ma con il quale abbiamo subito chiarito, parlando noi un buon inglese.

Il vero punto forte di questo hotel è la sua posizione, si trova a pochi metri da Times Square ed è vicinissimo a Bryant Park. La mia stanza, una executive, era piuttosto gradevole e mediamente spaziosa, cercate di prenotare almeno questa categoria di stanza perchè ho visto le camere standard e sono decisamente piccole. "Al centro del mondo..."
Da raccomandare per l'ottima posizione praticamente a 2 minuti da Times Square e quindi al centro di tutte le attrazioni. Da migliorare il comfort della camera (soprattutto il materasso), senza considerare che le camere sono piccolissime ma pulite. La camera era molta sporca, e la pulizia e' sempre stata molto superficiale se non nulla. Il condizionatore per aria calda o fredda non si poteva accendere in quanto emanava un odore fetido di muffa. La doccia era molto sporca, con la muffa nera tra le piastrelle. In Europa un tale albergo non avrebbe assolutamente piu' di due stelle. Ad ogni modo vivibile […] se ci si sa adattare. Sono stata parecchie volte a New York, tutte in alberghi di buon livello. Questo è assolutamente, e senza paragone, il peggiore in cui sono stata. il mio giudizio negativo, pur essendo gia stato ospite del MELA, deriva dall'assoluto disinteresse del personale del ricevimento nei confronti dei clienti, a meno di risposte a specifiche richieste. Durante la mia permanenza, aspettavo la consegna di un pacco, di cui ho anche chiesto notizie agli impiegati un paio di volte. in sintesi il pacco è stato […] consegnato alla reception il giorno precedente alla mia partenza, ma nessuno mi ha avvertito, tanto che quando ne è stato chiesta notizia al mio rientro, ci siamo candidamente sentiti rispondere che il pacco era stato effettivamente consegnato ma che avrebbero volentieri provveduto a spedirlo immediatamente, se volevamo, " a spese del destinatario ". "Right in the middle of the city"
I really enjoyed staying at the hotel. Despite being practically in Times Square (which I would normally avoid) the street was quiet, there are several very nice restaurants just feet away, the look and feel of the hotel is sleek and modern and the people were very nice. My room was on the second floor which is also the location of the fitness room, so i could hear the TV from the fitness room loud and clear in my room because you could have slipped a laptop through the gap at the bottom of my door. After a long trip I stayed here overnight d/t a layover at JFK. The bed was so comfortable I had a great sleep. The service was superb. The location was perfect for shopping, Times Square, theatre district, museums, everything. I've stayed at Hotel Mela twice so far. The location is great if you are looking to stay in Times Square and there are lots of touristy things to do and see within walking distance: Rockefeller Center, Crystal Building, Empire State Building, 30 Rock, Eataly, MoMA, etc. The rooms were clean and comfortable both times I stayed. However, I would give Hotel Mela two strikes against it after my most recent stay for the following reasons. We had a room right next to the elevator, so we could hear both the elevator moving behind the wall as well as lots of foot traffic and noise in the hallway (and they could probably hear everything I did as well). Secondly, the bed was comfortable but not as comfortable as most other hotel beds in the city. The mattress was not firm enough for my liking and the fitted sheet was worn and pilled. But, again, I would recommend Hotel Mela to friends and fam looking to stay in Times Square... "fantastic hotel"
My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights in february 2013 and had a fantastic time. The hotel position literally could not be better, it was a 30 second walk to the centre of times square, but also extremely quiet during the day and night. The room was more than big enough for the two of us, and to be honest we were pretty much only in there when we […] were sleeping. The maid service was fantastic and the room was cleaned ever day with fresh towels etc. The staff were very helpful, giving us directions to train and bus terninals whn we were venturing out of the city to the jersey gardens outlet mall and over to new jersey to watch the ice hockey. "Great Staff!"
What really impressed me during my stay was how understanding and helpful the staffs were! I went to NYC for an audition, as expected I got complains from the neighbors while practicing. Instead of telling me to stop playing, the staff let me to practice in the conference room, because the meeting was cancelled last minute. They also helped me with […] printing music and etc. The room was small, but it's understandable in NY. But it's the staffs who really made this hotel special. room was somewhat closet-like. Services in the hotel are minimal. Room was clean but had mostly bed and desk and the lights of times square flashing throughout the night. Other issue with this hotel is that the location on 44th street makes getting a cab very difficult. 3 other hotels grab them all before they get to this place. "Great Location, some good staff, not so great room"
While John Paul and Christian were some of the most helpful staff, the woman working the front desk both mornings we were there, was nothing short of rude. She did not provide any guidance or assistance beyond what was required of her and even then, was not helpful at all when I requested information about how long valet would take to get the car back. […] She said 5 minutes when I chose valet, but when I requested the car the next day, said it would be 45 minutes. I ended up walking to the garage myself in the rain/snow; she didn't offer an apology or to refund the valet cost. The location is great- steps away from Times Square. The room is SO small and there is no place to put your luggage. Plan on keeping suitcases on the floor and lining the window sill with your items; don't worry, there is no view so you won't mind putting your stuff on the sill. Good service at the reception desk. Central location close to most subway lines and between Grand Central and Penn train stations. Times Square at the corner but the room was quiet, even on friday or saturday night. Quality of Hotel Servive = 3 --- only because I didnt use any services! Housekeeping did its job, my check in / check out experience was fine, but that was the extent of it. Other than that, its steps away from ALL major subway lines, so could get anywhere from there. I dont like Theater District, but for the price, it was perfect. The hotel was clean, […] the room (small) but cozy. The best thing is that it had a window, a bed, reading lamps, plenty of outlets, a desk (I was working from home, so that was great) and a bathroom.
