This hotel was very difficult to find because the sign - you can only see if coming from one direction. After driving up the steep cliffs, you (hopefully) will find this hotel which is a "diamond in the rough". It is like piece of antique jewlery that needs a nice polishing. The hotel was build in the about 1960 and NOTHING has changed since then. They […] could film an episode of the TV Show "Mad Men" here and it would wok perfectly. It is almost a museum. So, if design does not bother you then you are okay. As my partner said, "Look at the views, not the hotel". The views are amazing...I can not say enough about it. The service is awesome and the hotel is very clean! It is quiet, and a quick walk to the main part of town, and they even have a parking lot!! (Big deal for Sicily). We went in October, so it was "off season" and the AC was turned off in our room, which I was not happy about, and because the balconies are shared, I was concerned to leave the doors open - but had no choice (privacy or air, and I chose air). They have a pool and nioce outdoor seating area that is terraced up the mountain behind the building, which is a nice touch. The view of Etna and the Ionian sea was spectacular. Ask for a sea view room. The room was large and clean but needs updating. The plumbing worked fine except for a constant drip which management didn't succeed in fixing. The location was a 10 minute walk from the main street but on a hill. Hotel Mediterranee is very well located on the hill above Taormina. It has good parking. Whereas, the hotel is definitely in need of updating at this point, the views from the balconies are terrific. We had had a very difficult drive and it was a little hard to find even with navigation, but when we got there Luciano at the front desk was extremely […] helpful, friendly and kind! What a view! The Mediterranean and spewing Mt. Etna - can't get any better!

Great location with amazing views. Air conditioning worked well and the shutters mean total darkness and hence a great nights sleep. Very clean and quiet, had a drink a few evenings in the bar but we were the only customers. Whilst the climb from Corso Umberto might be off putting for some it provided much needed exercise after all the glorious food. […] We walked here from the bus station without too much exertion. Friendly staff and great view and location, but the air conditioning was not sufficient. It is tough to sleep when you are sweating. In the spring and fall, I am sure it is fine, but I wouldn't stay here in the summer again. Also, the location listed on this site was incorrect. The correct Lat Long of the hotel is: 37.85231N 15.28522E

We loved our stay here. There are swankier hotels in the area, but for the price, this is probably the best option. AMAZING views (get a sea view room, it's worth it), fantastic pool area. 5 min walk to the main street of town and right near the beginning of a trail up to the hilltop village nearby. The hotel mediterrene was nicely located close to Corso Umberta 1 and the town centre. There was an excellent view of the Bay and Mount Enta from our room. There are however a number of steps to navigate down to the town centre

We chose this hotel because we wanted to stay in Taormina and we needed car parking. The location is excellent. It sits on the northern side of the town and is easy to reach. The car park is reached up a VERY steep drive with hairpin bends. The parking is limited but the hotel staff keep your car keys and double and treble park the cars to make sure […] they all fit. First impressions as you enter are not good. The reception seems old fashioned and lacklustre. The staff were very helpful and showed us to the room and brought our bags up for us. We stayed in room 67. The room was good, quite a large room with a large bed and traditional furniture. Our balcony was amazing – it was bigger than some people’s bedrooms and looked straight out to sea over the rooftops of Taormina, but turning your head just a little to the right and there was snow-capped Mount Etna. A fantastic view that would be hard to find anywhere else in Taormina. Breakfast was good with lots of choice -– bread, cake, pastries, meats, cheese, jam, fruit, yogurt, cereals. The restaurant was closed until June 1st but the pedestrianized main street, Corso Umberto, was only five minutes walk away and there is an abundance of places to eat there. The only minus point was the bathroom. It was a good size, had a toilet, bidet and shower over the bath. The bath was totally enclosed by sliding panelling. It was clean but old-fashioned. A word of warning – make sure you get a room facing the front. A few rooms face the cliff at the rear and are dark and have no view. The location of this hotel cannot be surpassed - the views from the room and huge terrace are spectacular (it is really worth it to reserve a room with a view) - the 180 degree view over the ocean, city roofs and Mt. Etna are awesome. The large room is very comfortable, staff are very hospitable and helpful, onsite parking is a blessing. The staff were the best we came across in 2 weeks of travel in Sicily and we liked all the others. Very professional - they seemed to really enjoy their jobs and were very friendly and courteous. They were very interested to talk to us. The view from our room was outstanding, had a lovely pool with same view. Breakfast and lunch were very good, we […] did not eat dinner there because the number of restaurants in town were so numerous. They gave a great recommendation for dinner just down the street, Don Camillo. We drove to the sister hotel's beach which took 15 minutes by car. It had beautiful clear water but a little rocky. Also took cable car to public beach, it was a great ride down - very convenient to use. These are not sandy Long Island beaches but the water is crystal clear and aquamarine blue! The hotel is a short walk up from the main "Corso Umberto" but lots of stairs - but worth it for amazing view from room. Godt fornøyd -value for money

Man ist in ca. 3 Minuten zu Fuss am Corso Umberto bzw. im Stadtzentrum Taorminas. Grosszügige Zimmer, teilweise mit riesigen Terrassen, traumhafter Aussicht auf die Bucht von Taormina und Aetna. Sehr nettes und hilsbereites Personal. Gratis Parkplatz. Jederzeit wieder!

Hotellet har hyggelig betjening, men en mann av eldre årgang, på flere måter, som sjef. De fire stjerner som hotellet reklamerer med, er nok bare en stjerne som er tellet fire ganger. Svært skuffende. Men kjempeutsikt fra hotellet. Enkel frokost. Har vært på to andre hoteller i samme uke, som også reklamerte med 4-stjerners hotel, og det var ekstremt […] forskjell (betydelig høyere standard) enn Mediterranee. Vi reiser ikke tilbake til dette hotellet. (Prisen varierte med ca NOK 60,-/døgn på de tre hotellene). Continua a leggere

Hotellet utger sig för att ha 4 stjärnor, men borde ha endast 2!! Rummen är under all kritik, slitna,smutsiga sängbottnar, påver inredning, gammal tjock-TV, som bara har italienska program (ej BBC, CNN eller dyl.) och rummen är förmodligen inte renoverade på 50 år. Badrummet är så dåligt, gammal dusch, kranar som är nästintill rostiga och det går knappt […] inte att spola på toaletten. Grumligt vatten i poolen. Man får hämta gamla, slitna, blekta, uttjänta handdukar i receptionen och behålla dom hela veckan.En dag var dom helt slut., fast vi inte var många gäster där. Frukosten också dålig, samma saker (d.v.s. ost och skinka) varje dag och maten tog ofta slut. Läget är visserligen centralt, men oerhört backigt och många trappor ner till Corson, dit man går och äter. Ingen trevlig personal, sura och trötta på turister. På terassen, som var stor med underbar utsikt fanns 2 plaststolar och en pall. Det var allt. Hotellet har funnits i samma familj i 50 år, vilket verkligen märktes. Man blir hemmablind och förbisprungen av andra nya, fräscha hotell utan att märka detta och tro att allt kan vara som det alltid har varit. Boka inte rum här! Continua a leggere

Skønt hotel med god central beliggenhed,fantastisk udsigt,stor terasse.

Hyggelig hotell med uslåelig beliggenhet - utsikt over havet og Etna. Og får du rom 51 eller 52, får du tilgang til en "balkong" på ca 130 m2.....

Huoneen yhteydessä valtavan kokoinen terassi, näkymät Etnaan ja merelle päin. Hieno ja siisti uima-allas alue. Aamiainen OK. Ystävällinen ja avulias henkilökunta.

Vi stormtrivdes här. Utsikten är helt magisk och att inte välja rum med havsutsikt är helt idiotiskt. Trevlig och hjälpsam personal. Lite tråkig frukost men det kanske är så på Sicilien? Poolen är väl tilltagen och fräsch. Den privata stranden nås via "taxi" som går 2 ggr om dagen. Kostar 6 euro/person och det passade oss jättebra. Hyggelig betjening, nydelig beliggenhet, men hotellet berærer litt preg av generell slitasje. Rommene hadde antakelig litt ulik standard, vi var nok litt uheldige og fikk et rom med noe gammel standard.

Detta hotell lever inte upp till sina fyra stjärnor. Det var väldigt slitet och motsvarade snarare två stjärnor enligt svensk standard. Bra läge och fin utsikt. Värt att tänka på är att man måste ta en shuttle till stranden. Den går bara ett par gånger om dagen. A nice hotel with good view over the city and the sea. Short way to walk downtown. Beautiful pool surroundings on the roof, and also shuttle to sister hotel by the beach, with free access. Very recommendable.

Han sido muy amables ynos gustaría volver; lo único que el baño es algo incomodo.

Leider ist das Hotel schlecht ausgeschildert. Trotz NAVI kamen wir nicht auf Anhieb an und mussten rund eine Stunde suchen und nachfragen da keine Hausnummer existierte. Ansonsten alles OK.

Hotellet är beläget ca. 5 minuters gångväg från Taorminas stadskärna. Fint poolområde men i övrigt ganska gammalmodigt. Trattoria Don Camillo på Via Diodoro Siculo i backen på väg ned till staden rekommenderas om man vill äta en god middag under ett apelsinträd.

Flot udsigt mod Etna, over Taormina og bugten, men en del blæst på altanerne, da hotellet ligger højt. Vi boede 7 dage på hotellet. Værelserne er små og simpel morgenmadsbuffet, som ikke ændrer sig i løbet af ugen. Venlig og imødekommende personale. Centralt beliggende tæt ved hovedstrøget Corso Umberto. Lite slitet hotell högst upp i Taormina, slitaget har man överrenseende med när hotellet har det läge det har. Vidunderlig utsikt över Taormina, havet och Vesuvius var man än befinner sig. Vi hade ett rum med egen terass med utsikt över alltihop, likadan utsikt från matsal och pool. Poolen ligger högst upp i hotellet och känns som en egen liten oas. Det var kallt och regnigt en del av tiden vi var där och det var kallt i rummen som inte hade någon värmekälla. Kallt även i frukostmatsalen. Varmvatten saknades i duschen en dag. Tycker inte att hotellet når upp till 4-stjärnigt. Borde klassas som 3-stjärnigt. Men läget är 5-stjärnigt med fantastisk utsikt från takterassen över Etna och Medelhavet. Her kunne Hercule Poirot ha sjekket inn- han ville ikke ha blitt skuffet! Beliggenheten og utsikten var fantastisk! Fra en stor balkong hadde vi utsyn over Etna, havet og kunne se opp til landsbyen ovenfor, idylliske Castelmole.
