Amunuca Island Resort & Spa Tokoriki

As a family, we've stayed at Tokoriki, Treasure, Castaway & Mana - this beats them all for the quality of the beach. Our bure - absolute beachfront with a hammock - is probably the best value accommodation we've seen. Pool good, activities good, people wonderful - our girls (8 & 6) loved it. Only let down was the food - average quality and meal plan […] looked too expensive - thankfully we'd stocked up st Denerau with snacks and water (a must) plus we walked 5mins round to the Tokoriki resort for 5star food at similar prices. A stunning location, I think it has one of the best views of any of the manamuca resorts. The facilities are pretty good, a little run down but only cosmetically. Staff were all very friendly. The food was average but not bad, just would have liked a few more healthier options for lunch. (It is possible to have a meal without the kids at Tokoriki resort, […] which is good but don't let them book you in to the lower deck unless you are prepared to pay the extra money for 3 course set menu, as they fail to communicate that to you.) Excellent location in need of TLC. Staff friendly but service offering needs improving to warrant rack rates. On a 50% off deal, this is good value, otherwise would have been disappointed. Poor food, reminded me of school dinners. Cultural programme and staff responsible deserve credit.

This resort is beautiful, not quite as big as we thought, but serene and romantic. My partner and i stayed in a Loloma Bure which was absolutely stunning. There were about 6 or 8 of these type of bures, at the far end which looked like they had never been finished or had been destroyed. Things like this around the island were common. Our airconditiong […] broke twice, hot water was on and off again, cafe coffee machine and blender broken. The staff here are fantastic, everyone knew our name. The activities centre here needs a lot of work. Things aren't quite as professionally run as you would expect, and we were a bit disapointed at times, but we look back and we had a great holiday, snorkelling off the beach in an amazing location. I would just like to point out a couple of things that aren't clear enough on Amunuca's hotels.com profile. 1. It is quite hard to access the island from the main island. There is only one cruise opperator and it only goes two times each day. Therefor people should check the company's time table before booking the hotel. We had a problem with this. 2. […] The prices on the resort are quite blown up. It costs about 80 $ to eat at the resaurant and all lunches are very expencive as well. Amunuca is absolutely fantastic. It's like taken straight out of paradise. I will try and make a rather "complete" review as there were a few things I would have liekd to know before going. 1. If you're going to Amunuca remember that the latest ferry sails at 12.15 PM. We landed at 3.00 PM and had to take a water taxi. Crazy expensive 2. Remember to […] bring water. Lots and lots of water. You can't drink the water on Fiji, and no, cooking it won't help as it's salty. 1.5 L. of water costs a lot on Amunuca and we drank at least 3 bottles a day. 3. We found 2 cockroaches in our room in 6 days. Then we tried to close the door to the bath at night and then we didn't see any more. We also let a light on in the bathroom at night. 4. Food is naturally expensive. However, it is the bets food I've ever had tbh. I can especially recommend the "Seafood Platter", was absolutely fantastic. 5. . The spring rolls are great and cheap. 6. We had a movie channel on the tv without sound. I solved it by pressing (I think) the buttom right button until sound came. (otherwise it's one of other bottum ones) 7. There's quite a lot of flies when you eat lunch - none at dinner however. The best way to avoid the flies is sitting as close as you can to the table tennis table. And now the good part: The personal is absolutely amazing. Super friendly, the cleaning of the room is superb, the pool is wicked, it's a like a dream. You can get snorkel and kayak equipment for free. It's like a fish-tank if you go snorkelling and I found plenty of beautiful sea-shells. There's volleyball in the pool almost every day and it's just so much fun. I went "Deep Sea fishing" with "Let's get wet" and caught a 12 kg GT (Giant Trevally), a experience of a lifetime. Expensive - but definately worth it. There's so much more good to say about this resort. If you go to Fiji, go to Amunuca, was just amazing. Terrible service, not the best food, great island.

Had a wonderful stay at Amunuca, plenty of outdoor activities, pool, small cinema. The snorkeling out the front of the resort was great - free snorkel and kayak use. Staff very friendly and attentive. I have no hesitation in recommending the resort to singles, couples or families.

What a wonderful 5 days we spent at Amunuca! The resort has a stunning view of the ocean and is well equipped with facilities and activities to keep you occupied - the Sunday school choir was a highlight! There is basicly nothing to say on this Heaven looked Island.

Fantastic little resort. Wonderful views from all parts of the hotel (bar, pool, restaurants, reception, ocean front rooms). Fishing trips, water activities, tours of local villages or of "castaway island" (where the movie was filmed) offer plenty of activities, or of course the pool / spa / bar for those who want something more relaxed. We stayed in a one-bedroom bure for 3 nights. Room was great, roomy, clean, AC in both rooms, bathroom was roomy. Location is beautiful although the beach is not pristine because of the seaweed. But that's natural and I didn't really mind. They had activities scheduled daily, some are free while others you need to book with the scuba shop and costs […] money. We took a 2 hour trip to Mondriki Island where the film "Cast Away" was filmed. Was a fantastic experience! Deserted island and the snorkeling was great. The food at the resort is quite pricey. We got the meal plan on the first day because the previous reviews said it was worth it, but we cancelled because it really wasn't. Food was pretty good but really overpriced. Water is expensive too. Suggest bringing lots of bottled water and some snacks. We just ate break-fast n dinner and ate our own food for lunch. Dinner is always pre-fixe and costed FJ $65.00. Overall, the staff was pretty friendly although some were a little rude. As with everywhere in Fiji, everything is done on Fiji time. But overall we had great time, it's a beautiful resort with friendly people. We live in Hawaii, but Fiji is just so pristine. Exactly like the postcards! Continua a leggere

Would highly recomend this resort and hope to go back. Staff were very friendly and helpful - facilities were just right for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the Fijian islands. The crossing was so calm and the weather just perfect. The service provided was excellent and the Staff so friendly. My grandchildren had a great time swimming and absolutely loved the slide. Very relaxing and the food was excellent.

Way too expensive. Very friendly but also very incompetent staff - not their fault, bad management!!! Bad and slow service. Terrible food for the price. All in all we were quite happy with the hotel. Some of the bad reviews are uderstandable but you have to remeber that it is not a 4 star + hotel. For it's 3,5 stars it's absolutely ok. The staff was friendly just sometimes a bit slow. We didn't get new towels and had to wait a day for new ones. You notice the age of the hotel, it would need a renovation. […] The location is absolutely great. We really enjoyed the beach and the view at the corals that are sourrounding the island. I visited Amunuca between 5/22 and 5/28 - which also happened to be at the end of the "quiet season" for the resort. It was so quiet, in fact, that it felt like you had your very own resort with tons of staff. No one else ever used the adult pool, and the "inifinity pool" was absolutely wide open, as was the ocean. The positives? Super-friendly staff, […] very relaxing, very quiet, food was better than expected (thankfully) and plenty of activities both around the resort and on the water to choose from. No lines! The negatives? Please, please, PLEASE improve housecleaning, with a great emphasis on "cleaning." Also, even though the adult pool was pretty much a hermit's delight because no one else used it, it still needs to be cleaned out. It sits beneath trees - that kind of means it needs cleaning daily, if not every few hours. With new management and ownership, I hope they also upgrade/update the furniture in the public areas - AND, provide Internet access in the rooms! This is a resort, and a 3-1/2 star one, so one should expect Internet access (even if it's not free) to be standard for each of the bures. The cinema wasn't working, either, when I was there, which would have been great to use on those days when one was bored with swimming/activities and wanted a nice, indoor diversion. Last, more diversity in the menu! The food was expensive, which wasn't surprising, and in spite of previous reviews about the food it wasn't terrible. but the lack of variety in food choices was disappointing. If I ever have the chance to visit Fiji again, I may instead spend 3 days max at a resort and spend more time on the main island. But Amunuca was a good place to be for a first-time visitor seeking a far-away getaway for isolation, relaxation, and lovely change of pace from the ordinary. Continua a leggere

I just came from Fiji and I want to go back to Amunuca, the people were so nice, since u arrive that they receive u with their song, a drink and a warm welcome. The rooms are very comfort and clean. "The Hotel location is out of this world", the views are spectactular, BUT, the food is another question the menu is mainly asian dishes and not well cooked meals sent back time after time and expensive, do not take the meal plan deal it is a lot cheaper to do it yourself and the best thing to do is use the all day lunch menu for your dinner choices […] as this is better value. The staff are very friendly and all know your name after a day or so, and the staff join in all the activities that are on offer. there are plenty of trips you can do from the resort at a cost, but the snorkeling and kyacks are free to use, but you need to do a trip to see the beautiful coral on offer. Management will tell you that it is an ongoing job that they are working on doing up the hotel but it surely needs a lot of maintence to bring it up to standard, stayed in the Loloma suite, great view and beautiful spa in your room, great after a day in the sun lounging around the main pool area drinking margaritas !!!!!. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and immediately felt relaxed in a super friendly environment. Food was good as was the accomodation. There were plenty of Free activities to do during the day. We stayed for 4 nights which was a good amount of time to stay... could have done 5 nights, but know others who stayed for a week and felt it was one or two […] days too long... 3-6 nights here is perfect. The accomadation itself was very reasonably priced, although the ferry trip and food made the stay a bit more expensive than originally thought... Amunuca Resort's web site states it has been refurbished - still very much a work in progress. This property is aimed at the lower end of the market, and families, and in this repect you should keep in mind that you get what you pay for. If you want 5 star gourmet silver service with all the trimmings you are in the wrong place. BUT - If you want a […] genuine Fijian property where the people are what you notice, then you could do a lot worse that Amunuca. Facilities are rather basic, but that's often the essence of a Fiji holiday. Gorgeous water, clean sand, nice gardens, and friendly smiling locals make this property memorable. Okay, the rooms were a little tired - mostly everything but the pool was - but if all you need is a bed with clean sheets, basic food and a shower than book in and enjoy the natural beauty of this location. Water sports facilities were limited due to an obvious need for some equipment upgrades, but the staff do a great job with what they have. I would love to return to this property - maybe once refurbishments have gone a little further it will really have something special to offer everyone. One last note, look before deciding on meal plans as you may find; as we did; that it works out more affordable to not sign up. And unless present situation changes, don't expect too much by way of selections on the menu. You will find some "interesting" combinations appearing on the menus, and a distinct absence of the standards like steak & salad (for example). as we arrived on the boat, the resort looked beautiful, staff were very friendly and nothing was a bother to them. plenty of staff around to help. the food was pretty good, though maybe some more variety - steak was excellent and the breakfast, very nice indeed. unfortunately, after a few days the weather closed in and it rained and rained and when […] this continued, there was not a lot to do as the resoirt theatre was not functioning - dispite our repeated requests and offers to help with a solution. the room whilst clean and tidy was not what we expected, we had booked an open plan type of room but were put in an apartment which was like 3 separate hotel rooms, with no common area. there is plenty of paid activities and free snorkling and kayaking but again the whether meant that activities were cancelled which was quite disappointing, but couldn't be helped. the boat trip to tokoriki resort is well worth the effort, the buffet is excellent and amunuca staff happy to take us over. some attention to a few minor things would make a huge difference - get the theatre working, try to get staff to attend promptly when there is problems (we couldn't get our safe to work and asked and asked until another guest helped us), only a few of the umbrellas around the pool would open, and the wireless internet access was out for a few days - again possibly one of those things out the control of resort staff. overall, quite good (except for the weather) and the resturant waiting staff - great! day spa was great, well priced and the staff were friendly. grounds well maintained, tho the tiles around the pool area quite slippery which made me nervous getting in and out of the pool and walking past. Nice resort great water surounding the island, although not much in it but if you are lucky you can spot sharks and turtles. The corals and fish get better if you go on a snorkling trip. Nice beaches, great pool, restaurants are good and rooms are really clean and cozy. Snorkling, kajaks are free and there are plenty of other activities. You can paddle […] around the island about 1,5 hours on low tide you can also walk quiet a bit along the beach. Again you don't really want to stay on any of the islands for more than a week as you might run out of things to do and the same goes for this on, but then again once there why not visit another of the many great Islands Fiji has to offer. There is just one word to describe Amunuca - paradise... We enjoyed our 2 nights stay at Amunuca and were very sad to leave. We are already planning to come back in 6 months time. The staff at Amunuca are first class, and they make you feel like you're part of one big family. Staff knew us by name which made us feel very welcomed. The swimming pool […] is fantastic and overlooks the clear blue ocean. The view from the pool is indescribable. The activities organised by the resort were plentiful and fun. We throroughly enjoyed the water polo and touch rugby games. We stayed in a rainforest studio room which was a bit small but it was very cosy. Room was very clean. The only small complaint I have is that the food was not very good. Perhaps bring instant noodles and sandwiches to save on lunches. Overall, we highly recommend Amunuca. It's a bit further away from the mainland but it's worth your while. It was truly paradise and I shed a tear when we left to the sounds of Kinny bidding us goodbye with the Isa Lei song. My stay here was lovely, I had a garden bure which was beautifully furinished and although I had to change bures due to a/c not working on my first day, the rest of the stay went without a hitch. Flowers on bed and linin is a great touch and on the whole the room was clean although when I moved the TV there was a thick line of dust and the corners of […] the room and batheroom could do with more of a clean. Be careful of the screen blind in your room as it is still see-through when you have the light on and its dark! Lovely complimentary toiletries and coffee provided. TV in room great if its raining out. Bed was very confortable and linin was supberb. The dowdnside of this resort was ultimately the quality of the food, it is not worth buying the full board option in my opinion and for the quality, the food is overpriced. This is not the fault of the cooks - they are staff who are doing their best but they are clearly not chefs which is what the price commands. I ate lunches at the other resort which is a brief stroll away (unable to walk at night as no lighting) but the food there was great. I never had breakfast at either resort and most nights there was special buffet meal which included deserts/all you can eat/coffee. this was relatively good value. I had friends who stayed in the expensive rooms which had fantastic views. although their complimentary robes were removed after the first night and their spa never worked at all. The manager was rarely seen although he occasionally greeted those who stayed in the expensive sea view bures. In my opinion, the exterior & landscape of the resort needs work, gardens were tidy but not landscaped and the pool area was spoilt by exposed dirty pillar bases and scuffed walls and flooring. The pool was lovely and the pool towels were of a good quality and a nice touch. The furnishings inside the main resort were in need of replaceing. The hotel is still undergoing new management issues it seems. The staff were not very friendly - particularly in the restaurant/bar area and service was not good. The food was ok but nothing to rave about. I would not opt for the meal plan - it was cheaper to buy the daily specials. We were lucky enough to get a cheap price for accommodation through […] Hotels.com - if we had had to pay full price for the room then I would say it was not worth it at this stage. They have a lot of work to improve the facilities/staff service and attitude. It was difficult to get out to the reef to snorkel. A boat shuttle would have been a good idea. However, on the last day they put a pontoon out in the deep water so people could kayak out there and tie up the kayaks while they snorkelled. The water and sand was full of seaweed - they had a couple of people raking some of it up every day but they just left it on the beach so it just went back into the water and the smell on the beach was not very nice. Entertainment also was not great - mostly focussed at kids/karaoke - which is ok if that is daytime but you would like something for adults at 9-9.30pm at night. This resort looks absolutely beautiful from afar and when you get to the Island, it is exactly like all it's photos. Absolutely beautiful. The staff are friendly but are a little laid back -Fiji style. The food is very expensive that's because we are on an Island without any shops. When you visit Fiji and the Islands you have to chill out ;You have to realize that you are not in a first world city and the consistently balmy hot weather demands a slower pace and one can not get too demanding about a race of people who are entirely welcoming and naturally lay back. We realized the cleaning staff did not have the same level of English. The blackboard menu was generous and delicious. The resort catered well to families but those who just wanted privacy or quiet could find it as the area was bigger than the average island resort with plenty of walks and eating areas for adults only. When the adults only pool space will be completed that will be a great asset .Happy to report towels available at the pool. This resort definitely has the best aspect for restaurant and bar with breezes on this island. The hairdryer was not powerful or adequate for anyone who needed one every day.Very casual attire only.Lovely children's play equipment, games and good tennis court. Take your own blockout and booties to walk in rocky beach. We stayed in a rainforest room, thankfully not within hearing distance of the chilldren's pool. Air con. storage, bathroom, king bed, linen ,fridge, verandah were all excellent .Water sport's staff most accommodating. I have just returned from staying 7 days with my daughter at Amunuca Resort. The resort is currently still being revamped. The holiday was fantastic and as usual it was the staff that made it most enjoyable. Just a couple of things that could have been improved: 1. At check-in they forgot to let us know there were meal inclusive packages and we ended […] up paying quite large dollars for meals. 2. It would have been great if we had a bit more of a tour or a map of the resort. We "discovered" a 2nd adult only pool. Although this still needs work - it was a loverly escape. The Spa was not well sign posted and if we had a brochure or something in our room it would have encouraged us to use. 3. Large bottles of water were had to get and in 28 degree heat - it was expensive buying the little bottles. 4. The rooms were clean and spacious - but by the end of our holiday we did not receive clean towels each day. 5. The hot water in the showers were luke warm - which didn't matter as adults - but could prove a problem with children. I have been travelling to Fiji for 26 years and it is still a wonderful destination but the prices have esculated out of proportion if you are looking for value for money. Amunuca Island Resort and Spa is a fantastic, friendly place to stay. As soon as you arrive you are met by the manager who makes you feel instantly welcome. Welcome drinks are offered while you relax on sofas to check into your room. The rooms are very spacious and clean, we had a Garden Bure and it was very comfortable. The infinity pool has a stunnng […] view of the surrounding islands but be advised if you are there for peace and quiet this is also a kids pool, however there is an adults pool a short walk away if you prefer the quieter life! There is activities and excursions going on daily, the main event being either water volleyball, volleyball or football. There is also a range of water sports activities available at reasonable prices. The food is fantastic, it is reasonably priced , the portions are a decent size and it tastes delicious. The staff are always on hand to keep you entertained in the evenings with karaoke, dancing, kava ceremonies and much more. Everyone is very friendly and always willing to help and the manager John and his fantastic team will do whatever they can to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. 很[酒店]的酒店，很大，很多人很多staff，房间很小，简直像香港酒店一样，床两边的空间还不够打开一个小行李箱。我们到达Amunuca的交通安排得非常不好，给酒店打过很多次电话confirm时间，每次都是不同的员工结果没一个人follow up。好处是吃饭的露台很赞，正对落日，很fancy。无边泳池也是对着落日。但东西又贵又不好吃。

我于2011年12月11-14日在该酒店度过了我们在斐济整个旅程的前三天，非常不错。这个的人非常热情，无论熟悉与否，老远都bula bula地和你打招呼。这个的食物也非常好吃，其中有一次还有中国菜，特别喜欢吃他们皮萨，后来在其他岛上确实要逊色一些。用信用卡刷卡结算要收5%的手续费。

周边海水真是清澈透底，好！度假村有些陈旧，设施不完备，价格还是便宜，也就这样了吧。

the hotel's facilities are not bad at all. but the door of the room is transparent, i suggest that the curtain should be thicker to provide more privacy for tourists.

休暇でいきました。 ３泊４日。 デラナウ港からかなり遠くて本当に着いた頃にはぐったりでしたが、本当に”休暇”というものを過ごせたと思います。 到着してチェックインしてから部屋に荷物が届くまでなぜか１５分くらい時間がかかりやきもきしました。着いてから早く海に入りたかったので・・・ 結局夕方だったのであきらめてプールに入りましたが、夕焼けを見ながら入るプールもそれはまた格別でした。 夜はアムヌカのレストランで夕食をとりました。詳細には「レストランが２つ」と書いていましたが、ファミリー向け、カップル向けの２つだそうですがメニューは全く一緒です。場所が分けられているだけです。料理はおいしかったです。ただ、従業員の方がすくないのか、ファーストオーダーはなかなか聞きにきてくれませんでした。それは宿泊 […] した３日間すべてにおいてです。 だけどそんなこと気にしなければいい場所です。 晴れた夜は夜空を見ながら食事もできます。（かならずそうしたい場合は予約をしとく方がいいと思いますが） 昼間はアクテビティがいろいろあります。シュノーケルとボートは無料です。体験ダイビングを一人８０００円程度で体験しました。 温暖化がすすみ、珊瑚は死んでしまっているところが多かったですが、それにまさる魚はたくさんいました。 あと、部屋は宿泊するなら少し奮発してでも必ずビーチフロントに宿泊するべきです。 朝起きたら海が見えて、各部屋の前に置かれたいすに座ってゆっくりできます。 少しおりれば浜辺で夜は波の音も聞こえます。 少し子どもちゃんが多いですが、レストランでのオーダーとその２つさえ気にしなければ最高の時間が過ごせます。 あとアジア人（日本人も）は宿泊客の１割に満たないくらいです。 なので宿泊中は英語が必須です。 隣にあるトコリキアイランドリゾートには歩いて１０分くらいで行けます。レストランも使用可能です。ただ、１６歳？以下は入れません。あと道らしい道はないので、（草むらを切り開いたような道）夜は街灯もないので行くのはほぼ不可能です。 カフェは使えるのでいいかもしれません。 このリゾートの情報がかなり少なかったのでいろいろ旅の準備に手間がかかりましたが、行ってよかった場所の一つになりました。 Continua a leggere
