We arrived at this hotel late, but the clerk was still very pleasant and checked us in quickly. The room was very nice and clean.

"hotel was close to highways"
The price was extremely economical. The hotel staff was very accomodating. The housekeeping staff was very thourogh and friendly. This was a great stay for the $.

This room is okay for a overnight vist but you get what you pay for. Nothing is around except a Fatz restaurant.

"Great stopover hotel"
Very friendly staff. Nice clean hotel including rooms. Quality hotel for fair price. I plan on staying here again as I pass through.

Chose this hotel because recent ratings were somewhat positive for the price. Room was dirty, bathroom fan was falling out of the wall, rug so threadbare that one person was stuck in the foot with a carpet tack. 2nd bed not made, despite reminding the staff that there would be 3 people in the room. It was a smoking room, which we asked for, but it obviously […] hadn't been aired out in a long time. Decided not to change rooms as it didn't look like any other rooms would be any better. "Howard Johnson Inn - Spartanburg - Nice Stay"
It was a nice stay. We were in town for a conference at Redemption Church and the hotel was less than 2 minutes from the church. There was a problem with the wifi but the staff fixed it within 5 minutes of the complaint. They did run out of Breakfast items, but I saw a lot of other guests from the conference, I think under normal circumstances they […] wouldn't have run out. Continua a leggere
"Right off the highway."
An okay place to sleep for the night. It was not bad for the money. The breakfast was not the best in the world. There was no laundry room or indoor pool.
Room was never cleaned. We had to take our trash out and bring our used towels to the front desk to get clean ones. Continental breakfast was meager. Thank God a Waffle House was within walking distance.

"Great stop-over location"
Enjoyed the hotel and it was located close to where I needed to go and had a very reasonable rate. Waffle House close by was certainly a bonus. All employees were pleasant and cheerful at all times and I'd definitely stay here again when I'm in the area.

This hotel is far past due a renovation. Pillows were very flat and the entire third floor had a foul odor.

Very nice. I will go back to them every time we see our son in college at USC Upstate. For the price--it can't be beat. Fatz and Waffle House within walking distance. McDonald's and BK just three blocks away. Love it.

This hotel was in poor condition and smelled like a meat locker. It was my first and only time staying at the Howard Johnson. The breakfast was leftover stale donuts whit cheerios. The only positive thing was it was close to a Waffle House and other restaurants. Not worth it even for being cheap.
"Clean, but needs a huge facelift"
This wasn't the worst place we've ever stayed, but it definitely was below my standards. The sheets literally were thread-bare (but clean) and the carpeting was coming loose around the edges of the room. TV reception was poor, even for local channels. "The Hotel in Spartanburg, S.C."
We have stayed at this motel a couple of times. It is in a location and the rooms are clean. Love the price. The only problem this time is the AC did not work properly in our Room (207) causing my sinuses to mess up but we would stay here again, just in a different room.

"great price, sufficient for business needs"
stayed here twice now, will stay again when in area; the hall had a slight odor, but my room didn't so it's ok. interior corridor, all amenities I needed-internet, comfy bed, clean room, small breakfast but it's something.
"Needs help desperately."
Room was dirty. A/C loud & never cooled. Asked for NON-smoking room, got one, but it stunk of scale smoke. Got there 1 hour earlier than check-in, hotel was not crowded or busy. Lady manager asked for $10. Asked her if she could recommend a local site to visit for the hour. She could only suggest a shopping mall. We left, visited the historic part of […] town, & returned hours later to check in. Got to breakfast in the lobby by 9 a.m. to find NOTHING left. Another guest told us that a volleyball team was there before us & devoured everything insight. "Too Hot to Sleep"
It was way to hot in the room and the halls to get cooled off just alittle bit we had to go outside and sit on our vech. and when asked for help.. the attendace was rude and we never got any help so next time we come back to spartanburg .. We won't be staying at the Howard Johnson....

"several benefits for the cost"
Affordable, relatively safe. Traveling alone as a female, wanted hotel with a door opening into a hall rather than a motel with a door going directly outside...that was the deciding factor. Then was pleasantly surprised to find all basic needs met; i.e. fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron, blow dryer. Room cleanliness was acceptable. Staff low key, […] helpful if needed. "Needs improvement, horrible management!"
This hotel was nothing like what we had expected. The owner was extremely rude, we had arrived a little earlier than expected, when i called before hand i was told the extra charge would be $15 but when we got there they charged $25, the room was very poorly kept. The furniture was scratched and old, the comforter and sheets seemed dirty, the towels […] had stains and hair on them. The breakfast was horrible, only coffee and bread with butter was avaiable, if you were lucky, most of the time you had to go up to the front desk to ask for it. "Sufficient, good price"
It was definitely sufficient for most of my needs as I travel on business. However I usually find that when I am faxing out to an 800 number it's free and they wanted to charge me. Nevermind I'll wait another night and get to a hotel that will agree. Staff could have been a little more accomodating. The room should have been vaccuumed much better than […] it was.
