Cornell Hotel de France San Francisco

Ottima posizione per visitare la città. Staff cordiale e disponibile e camera pulita. Carina l'ambientazione e la cura con cui è arredato l'hotel. Unica nota negativa è stata la ventola del bagno che sembra che sia stata smontata da un Boeing 747, quando la accendevamo faceva un rumore assordante. In linea generale però l'albergo merita.

The location of this hotel could not be better. Cable car stop is 1/2 block and Union Square is an easy walk with all the major stores. Many eating choices close to the hotel and. French restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast is included and very good. The hotel is very European in decor and services. Our room was very small but we did not spend much time […] there. This was a quaint hotel, much like stepping into a hotel from the 1950s or a bed-and-breakfast in France. The property is maintained in nice condition. The main problem with this place is its lack of air conditioning AND any way to make the room more comfortable other than by opening a window. It was 60 degrees outside on both days of our visit, yet […] our room was closer to 75 or 80 degrees. We found the location perfect for catching the trolley. It was very close to so many places we wanted to see. The breakfast was delicious and the waitress was precious, we loved her. There was no air-conditioning, we went in November and my husband was too warm at night even with the window open. It might have been our room's location. The restorant was the best experience. The building is old, but well mentained. The menagement was prompt to repspond when something was needed. The wireless internet connections were good.

We enjoyed our stay at the Cornell. It is an older property which is very well maintained and very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was small and we missed having a comfortable chair. The hotel is lacking some amenities such as an ice machine. My husband was able to go downstairs to the restaurant and get ice. The location was perfect […] for us. The cable car stopped within 1/4 block and we were right around the corner from Union Square. There was a long climb up the hill back to the hotel, which in San Francisco can be expected. The free breakfast was served in the downstairs restaurant where there were two choices each morning. Old world quaint hotel. Charming to the point of kitschy. Staff were accomodating and friendly. We loved the place and would recommend it to anyone. We have been to SF many times over the years and this was our best stay. The included breakfast was great value. The location of the hotel was perfect too.

I'm used to staying in chain hotels, and so you get used to a certain level of space/beds/baths. This was nothing like that. Think more bed and breakfast-ish. The bedroom was cozy, and advertised as such. There was only one of me, so that was fine. The bathroom area was just a toilet, sink, and shower, but all clean and functional, except for a loud […] buzz of the bathroom fan. The bed was comfortable, and there was a ceiling fan that provided a way to moderate room temp if needed. I was always comfortable in the room. I never heard a person in another room or hallway, so I'd say it's quiet inside. The French influence and ambience was really a kick. It was so UNLIKE a hotel, that I really loved it. Breakfast was limited but good, and the service was excellent. The elevator was unique and with glass doors, allowed a view of all floors going up or down. This little slice of small village France is charming but mostly for adults. Don't expect the big brash comforts and flash, but a small, well-located niche hotel just above Union Square.

daily paper available free daily; very reasonable price for being in S.F. 3 blocks from Union Station. Price included wonderful breakfast each day. Boutique hotel; made me feel I was in France. Courteous front office staff, not pushy at all. Wonderful value for the location and amenities.

Staff were charming and helpful, breakfast was generous and hot, room was comfortable and shower good. Internet connection was variable at the best of times, so that's a bit of a minus if you're not travelling with your own hotspot. The rooms are small (Euopean) but the hotel is quiet and nicely appointed. The breakfasts were a bonus. We loved the old fashioned elevator that appeared to be operated by a ghost. Good return on the price.

Excellent hotel and location. Decor unusual and qwerky but very lovely. Meals excellent. Great friendly staff in restaurant. Ideal location for all the sites with cable car along the street. Really enjoyed our stay here and would use it again.

We were greeted warmly by the staff and provided information about the extremely affordable ($24) daily parking rate across the street. Once our car was safely bedded down for the evening, we were shown to our guest room. While other reviews have commented on the small accommodations, we found the room to be very adequate for our needs. The bathroom, […] indeed is dated and compact, with an old fashioned claw foot tub and shower- not the best for folks. We made do. The hum of the city and ring of the cable cars lulled us to sleep. When we stepped into our hotel, we thought we were in Europe, beautiful decor . But step outside and you are in the centre of San Francisco. We even walked to Embarcadero but came back via Cable Car. Very convenient location in downtown SFO. Close to Powell station, union square and cable cars to Fisherman's wharf. Staff is extremely nice, friendly and very polite. Go for it.

When we were shown to our room, first thought were OH,the décor from the 1970 and we had small room,they got that right! The next time I go to San Francisco I will not even consider another hotel. The location is perfect and the hotel is everything I wanted it to be. Proximity to Market Square and great restaurants (four highly rated sushi bars within three blocks!) would be hard to beat at any price. Very reasonable price for the Union Square area. Excellent location for public transportation with a MUNI pass. Friendly hotel and restaurant staff. Deluxe queen room on 4th floor front of hotel was roomy enough for the two of us.

This was a nice boutique hotel and, like San Francisco, had a very "international" flavor. It is an older hotel with an ancient but working elevator or stairs. The staff was very pleasant, mostly asian, and accommodated our luggage when arriving early so we could walk around the city. The full breakfast in their restaurant we very good but Americans […] may find it a little light but it was adequate for us with two eggs, a small portion of hashbrowns, a piece of bacon, orange juice and coffee. It was in a good location and you could even pick up the trolley right at the corner from the hotel if you had a day pass with easy access to Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, or the Piers. You felt relatively safe walking around. Our only issue was the trash pickup across the stree at 4:30 AM but lasted only a few minutes and then moved on. Continua a leggere

the hotel was great. it was very cute. my husband thanked me several times for finding the place. we loved that it had so much personality. the bed was quite comfortable. the only drawbacks of the room was a tiny bathroom- which can't be helped. it was charming, but harder to get ready for our dinner downstairs. a small table next to the sink may have […] helped. in any case, i would prefer the charm of the small bathroom than not. we slept with the window open (since there's no AC), and surprisingly we slept fine; even my husband who is a LIGHT sleeper. at 6:30 we closed the window. and were able to sleep again for another hour, even though that made the room quite warm. if we ever go back to SF, we would love to stay here again! the restaurant was quite nice, as well. my husband raved on his delicious meal! The Cornell is an oasis in SF. After a busy day this place was just what the doctor ordered. Very quaint. The staff was second to none. The free breakfast was perfect. Keep in mind that this is an old building. It had noisy plumbing and squeaky floors. But those things didn't matter to us ... We just loved it and would go back again!

The hotel decorations are lovely and the hotel staff were very friendly. We had 3 rooms. 2 were quite small, but we were not in the rooms much anyway. th rooms were quiet and the showers were good and that's more important. Upon entering we were immediately taken by by the French ambience, but even for a very moderate price this wasn't quite up to par. Staff couldnt have been nicer and room was clean, spacious and really comfortable. Bit noisy/thin walls (sounded like cleaning crew) so just a heads up if you want to sleep in past 930am. Overall great hotel and have a discount for parking ($24 vs $40) at garage across st -also, in and out privileges for parking which is great!.

Victorian styled. Breakfast was included and it was very good. Staff very freindly. Only dislike is the steep hill you have to climb to get to it from the Bart. But, that is San Francisco, right? Overall, we loved the ambiance, grat for couples, and would stay again.
