Parking is a bit far from the rooms. Might be a problem if one is elderly or physically challenged. This was our second stay and we'll never tire of the beautiful buildings, views of the Hudson River and grounds.

We were very pleased with the exquisite grounds and comfort of this hotel. The staff was very helpful, and accommodated my early check-in request. Exceptional staff. Great food. Room was standard and no view. We should have upgrated. Walls a bit thin. Caught a comedy show in town. Overall a great stay.

I found this hotel threw hotel.com and it was a great catch. The service, location, and cleanliness was 5*****. I would Recommend to all!

The royal grounds complete with castle is the real appeal of this country club like layout. The room was very clean and comfortable

I'm not sure how much this place costs in the summertime, but it was definitely very good value if you stay there in November. I'm very happy with the general upkeeps of this hotel. Only minuses are: 1. No mini-fridge. It'd be nice to be able to keep my leftovers fresh. 2. It's like a maze trying to get to the gym from where I was. 3. The gym's heat […] is turned up way too hot. I can understand if they need to for the pool, but people working out on the treadmill might wanna breathe :p Everyone is courteous and everything is presentable. Landscaping is gorgeous. Requested a king size bed/room. When arrived was given the keys to our room, we went in and it was TWO Twins; when we went back to the check-in registration we were told that it was a REQUEST ONLY and that it was first come first serve. We were not given any options to move to another room, be put on list, apologies, or any complementary items to compensate […] for the inconvenience. The good: Best fitness center I've ever seen. If you're into free weights or more pro-sport type of fitness gear, they have it. Plus a racket ball court (!) which you can use for volley, basket ball. OK rooms - tired -- but nice enough for price -- clean -- were probably lovey in grandma's the day. Bathrooms are huge which makes up for some of the […] tiredness. The, eh: Rooms a bit loud -- not the best construction. Lots of hall way noise. Hard to find your way around. Lots of walking from parking to units. The bad: Parking terrible -- not enough of it -- hard to find a space -- tight spaces, schlep to your room after, always up hill. Restaurant terrible. We waited for 10 min for a table. Place was empty. Waiter promptly notified us they were out of all steaks and soups and some other items. Service pretty OK -- food terrible for price -- it's pub-quality food for 30 bucks an entree. If you want to spend that kind of money on dinner travel 25 min to NYC for world-class food for same price. Room service even worse -- more expensive for entrees -- near and at 40 bucks for same crap + deliver charge, service charge, and 18% gratuity. Crazy. No place to eat nearby, no menus in rooms but front desk did have some. (but you have to walk outside and up a hill to get there). Not kid friendly. "Game Room" shown on web site does not allow children at all. I was playing fuseball with my 10YO daughter, nobody else there, and we were asked to leave by a security guard. Total JERKS. Everything about our stay was superlative! Several days before our arrival, I called the concierge to get information regarding train service to Manhattan and received prompt, accurate and courteous information. We arrived at the hotel at about 2 a.m., and the check-in process was completed in a matter of seconds. The room was clean and comfortable […] and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The pillows were so great that my wife and I plan on buying the same type when we get home. The location was really easy to get to and from the highway. The grounds were immaculately maintained, and the health club and pool was the nicest I've ever seen at a hotel. The staff were courteous and very helpful. I can't wait to go back. The reservation was for three people. The room contained 2 double beds. We asked for a cot,but were told that a cot would not be possible in that room. We then asked for another room,and were placed in a room with a king bed in another section of the hotel. A cot was brought in. The first room was beautiful,with granite countertops and a small refrigerator. […] The second room had not been renovated,and was not as nice. My family has made several vacation trips to NYC. We have spent a ton of money on downtown hotels bu this time we enjoyed our stay felt at home and were only 30 minites from downtown for half the cost. Tarrytown House Estate is a beautiful property that makes you feel comfortable and at home. THe sports facilty is fantastic. My kids loved the pooil […] area and playing Bocci as well as Basketball. We had a wonderful experience and it was well worth the trip to Tarrytown House Estate. This was a leisure trip on a holiday weekend and everything was great. We loved the buffet breakfast offered on the weekend. The food was excellent and the dining room had an awesome view of the surrounding mountains. We would definitely stay there again. The reception is not very accomodating, we were put in a room pretty far from the main exit (the hotel is a maze of hallways), and they did not allow us to change, even though it was a Sunday night and the place was like a ghost town!

Great place to stay, beutiful grounds and nice resteraunt and bar on site. Would definetly stay again!

The Tarrytown House is a great place to stay if you are going to a Yankee Game. There is a train station a mile or so away with excellent service to / from Yankee Stadium. The trip along the Hudson is quite scenic, and less congested than the City subways. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The grounds are lovely and the staff very courteous.

I am a rep for a few Emergency Vehicle Manufacturers. I've stayed there a few time. On our most recent stay, we pulled two ambulance vehicles up to the registration entrance (the few parking spaces near the door were occupied). We pulled up on the edge of the driveway allowing adequate room for any size vehicle to pass. I was greeted by a gentleman […] in a maintenance shirt whom asked if he could help me. I responded "no, thank you, I'm all set". "He responded you can't leave those there". I explained that we where just checking in and that we would be moving the vehicle momentarily. He ordered us to move the vehicle and park in a lot down the hill. (the nearest lot over 50 yards away was blocked off) This lot was over a hundred yards away down hill form the door! We moved our vehicles, hike back up the door and I asked to speak with the manager. Only to discover from this somewhat apologetic manager that the individual was the head of security. I would have expected him to be in a suit working at such an "upscale" hotel, but maybe he was working a special operation and needed to look like he should be operating a weed eater. Throughout the remainder of our stay I observed other hotel and outsourced maintenance vehicles, truly blocking the only driveways in and out of the property. Everything was perfect except the hotel layout. Very hard to get around from rooms to lobby.

My boyfriend and I decided to leave the city for Labor Day Weekend but didn't want to go too far, so the 35 minute drive was ideal. I had already been here before and knew what to expect from the grounds, but the room was a lovely surprise. One downer: You sign a "no alcohol consumption in the room" agreement upon entering, but of course their Cellar […] 49 and poolside bars are topped with liquor. *Note: They provide rackets and balls for the tennis and racquetball courts. We stayed there because my mother was having surgery at a hospital about 30 minutes away. Coincidentally, our son got married there 3 months ago, and the family stayed there at that time. It was great being back and being able to take advantage of the amenities, e.g., the pool and hot tub, this time.

We are from out of town and were taking our daughter back to school and wanted our last evening together to be special. The hotel and the grounds seemed like a ghost town. After checking in we wanted to get snacks and a drink but it was very difficult to find the restaurant/bar (we and another couple were searching for it together - it was in the basement […] and not clearly marked). The room was comfortable but had a musty odor like there was a moisture problem near the AC unit. We also were settling in to watch our favorite HGTV show and discovered they don't have the channel. What hotel of any substance doesn't have such a popular channel? Call me shallow! The overall experience was a disappointment. Continua a leggere

There were a few problems with my stay. Firstly, I thought I had a confirmed room with a king bed...but when I went to check-in, I was told that there were no king bed rooms available, but that my room would have two queen beds. This wasn't something I was ecstatic about, but there was no use in arguing. We then had to drag our bags down 2 flights of […] stairs to get to the elevator that would finally take us to our floor. It was a little irritating, but nothing more than that. However, when we got to our room (which was quite nice and clean), we quickly saw that the 2 beds were full-size, not queen. It was tough enough sleeping in a smaller bed than I am used to, but in addition to that, the walls are terribly thin. so thin, in fact, that I could clearly hear other guests' conversations and tvs in the rooms next to me. I didn't get a single night of descent sleep while I was there. the grounds, room, and sport facilities were nice and I imagine that the outdoor pool would have been amazing if it weren't for the fact that it was raining all weekend. Our stay was very nice- there was a water mishap on our floor and had to change rooms, but the manager got us a new room very quickly and comped us meals and drinks for the inconvenience. Everyone was very nice and the hotel is beautiful- there are just too many steps! :)

Hotellet har en fantastisk beliggenhet men har noen rom der trenger oppussing.

Et skønt resort nord for New York. Vi boede på et fint standard værelse, men der findes endnu bedre værelser og super suiter. Hele stedet minder om et fransk vinslot, og restauranten kan leve op til det. Der er tennisbaner, squash, fitnesscenter og en dejlig pool.
