Sitting proudly on a lovely knoll on the edge of Kennebunkport, just an eight-minute walk to the Village and Dock Square, is this attractive 1860's Victorian Farmhouse. Just by looking out at the 100 year old lilac bushes bursting with aromatic purple and white blossoms, you know that the house has its own story to tell. The English Meadows Inn, adorned with all of its classic Victorian style inside and out, still manages to exude a warm and homey feeling. So, whether you choose to stay in the carriage house with its large common room and warm cozy fireplace, or in the main house with its many charming antique appointments, you are sure to be able to make yourself comfortable and feel at home. In the spring and summer, rolling lawns, lush gardens, colorful flowers and tree-lined streets with quaint shops will tempt you to take a relaxing stroll along the beach or around the bustling harbor. During the fall and winter months, you can enjoy the warmth of a blazing fire and simply curl up with a good book. Either way, you'll love how glimpses of New England's rural past mix now with the hustle and bustle of modern day Kennebunkport. A highlight of your visit will be sitting down to a delectable breakfast featuring products from the local farmers whenever possible. Starting with fresh fruit or juice, breakfasts range from quiche, to stratas, to stuffed French toast, and blueberry pancakes with scones, biscuits or muffins made fresh daily. An English "tea" is available in the afternoon upon request.
The rooms in the English Meadows reflect the style of an English country house. Chintz, floral patterns and stripes are found in the designer bed linens, curtains, pillows and fabrics. All of the rooms have featherbed- topped mattresses, down duvets, and soft cozy pillows. Antique oak and mahogany and Maine cottage furniture decorate the rooms and common areas. The inn's own collection of oriental rugs, paintings and prints are shared in the rooms and common areas. Each of the rooms has a CD player/ clock radio, wine glasses, wine openers, and sherry decanters for guests' enjoyment. Guest refrigerator, pantry, and portable DVD players are available. Complete bath amenities, including thick towels and hair dryers are in all the rooms.
